Dude, i still eat it sometimes, too. It was a childhood staple in lower middle class families back in the long ago days, like fried baloney sandwiches and spam.

It’s funny how the Hawaiians have latched on to spam, they love that stuff.
Spam and eggs is a decent breakfast.

you might as well gotten cans of cat food.
There are many things I’ve done in my life of which I am not proud. This is a story of one of them.
In high school, I worked in a grocery store as a stock boy. Let’s just use A&P as the store name. We had a grocery cart near the front of the store where we would put damaged/dented cans or packages or products where the label was ripped off and mark them down at a huge discount. Customers loved it. Occasionally, we would get a can of tuna flavored wet cat food that came in a can like Starkist, rip the label off, and write “A&P Tuna” on it and toss it in the cart.
I grew up eating Vienna Sausages and the Underwood canned meats, too. Awesome camping food. I still love Braunsweiger (liver sausage) but I started eating it before I could read the ingredients.

I’m 44 years old and have never once in my life heard of potted meat.

Was it Underwood? Please say it was at least Underwood.

lol...potted meat is scraps from beef, chicken, and pork. We're talking pieces that they wouldn't be able to package and sell as is. Why would you want to eat this?

Vienna and raw onion, it's what won WWII....

Smoked Spam is delicious!

Potted meat, Spam, and Beanie Weenies. No graduating from HS until you have had all three for at least one meal per year for 4 years. Not all at the same meal.

potted meat = trailer park pate'
My contention is that if you never ate it as a child no sane adult would ever partake.
The last time I had it might well have been in my youth. I do have a fond memory of the taste and texture of a nice bite scooped out of the can woth a Premium saltine. I have considered getting a can on occasion, but I am confident the experiance would not be nearly the same, and it would take between 3-4 hours off my life, and those could very well be the hours that Alexandra Daddario and Margot Robbie show up to double team me. So eat up my friend but do it full well knowing it might cost you the best few hours of your life... is it really worth it?

are y’all taking about deviled ham?
No. Armour makes my favorite. There are less expensive brands.
We used to carry a shell can full of potted meat, deviled ham, Vienna sausage, and King Oscar sardines in the boat. With a box of crackers.

Potted meat is a necessary nutrient for male testicles to descend and the development of normal heterosexual desires. The entire rise of the LGBTQ movement can be directly traced to it's removal from the American male palate.
