Yep. Just reminds me of Horton Hears a Who.

How is that possible? Isn’t the universe < 14 billion years old? Wouldn’t observable universe only be able to expand < 14 billion light years in any one direction?

It only matters to us individually in the brief time we’re here. A million years from now (an eye blink relative to the age of the Universe) no one is going to know who Nick Saban, Ronald Reagan, Tom Hanks, and Steve Jobs were. Everyone and all their accomplishments will be forgotten - no matter how important they were in our time. Hell, one day Earth won’t even be here. The Empire State Building, the Grand Canyon, Mt. Everest, the Giza Pyramids... all will be destroyed eventually.

Enjoy your consciousness while you can, and (while this won’t be popular) don’t waste your time here yearning for an afterlife that no one knows exists and seems less and less unlikely as the millennia pass.

observable universe

The observable Universe is the tiny portion we can see, including with telescopes. Because the Universe is expanding, there is a cosmoc horizon beyond which all objects are receding from us faster than the speed of light. We will never see any part of anything that lies beyond it.

Along with the observable Universe, everything beyond the cosmic horizon comprises the entire Universe. According to Alan Guth’s Inflation Theory, the entire Universe is 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 times bigger than the observable Universe.

What if we figure out a way to go outside of the observable universe?

Space is constantly being created. That causes distant galaxies to be pushed apart faster than light.

So our size relative to the universe determines our worth? What an odd thing to believe.

I think the observable universe size is based on pretty solid silence.

Wrong.

We ARE the matter.
