Didn’t they close the one in Mobile with no notice or anything?

Yes, closed it without notifying the local management. BBQ was shite anyway.

Ok boys calm down. I grew up in Ocean Springs, and know the shed and it’s people very well.

First of ok then bbq is good, and the ribs are excellent. (I don’t love the sandwiches but I am odd man on that) all the rest of my family does , but again the ribs are really good, and I am as much of an expert on BBQ as any foodie assholes who would promptly be beaten to death at any respectable BBQ event. But they have won awards and all that bullshite too at BBQ events

Next, I am very very familiar with the Shed fiasco in Mobile, it was right across the Street from USA, and ate there a decent amount. It sucked, service was terrible, was expensive [that guy was a complete prick to me too) But that was not Brad Orrison, please don’t confuse that a-hole with Brad, who is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet in your life.

I actually stop at Shed in OS rather than put another foot in that place, and ask them about what the problem was, and Laurie or another employee told me it was huge mistake, brad was sick over it, guy was complete a-hole, and they really have nothing to do with anymore and wish their name wasn’t on it. This was at least 6 months if not a year before it closed down.

Again, Brad Orrison had nothing to do with “the shed” in Mobile anywhere near the end, it was totally an attempted franchise situation, and the owner made it clear he knew everything and didn’t want any input etc from Brad very quickly. I actually wonder if it wasn’t some money laundering operation or something as they were the rudest mfers I have ever seen, the employees clearly hated working there, and food was clearly shite. They may have used the sheds sauce but that’s it.

Please don’t blame Brad for that a-hole.

Thats all nice, but the only time I went to Ocean Springs location, the meat was dry, like it was cooked the day before.

All credibility thrown out the window so quickly. You hate to see it.

If they are anything like most big BBQ joints, their competition cooking is nothing like the every day fare.

Been several times to the original when I lived close by and the only thing I miss from there is their potato salad. Everything barbeque was just ok imo, not bad but not special either. Much preferred Rob’s BBQ in Pascagoula over The Shed.

Let’s all be honest here, fine, good, Ok, is about as good bbq as you are going to get anywhere near 1-10 in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama or Florida.

Dreamland is ok if you like Virginia BbQ aka vinegar bbq. shite I am just glad we have Moe’s, and it’s nothing great although sides are very good

Robs is good too but not great.

Is there really a great bbq place that slow cooks their meat the right way anywhere on the central Gulf Coast? Not good but great?

Please share, if you got it. The only great bbq I have had is at peoples homes

They had one in Scott, LA probably about ~12 years ago or so, it made it about a year before closing.

Good luck opening a chain tourist restaurant in Scott, surrounded by the best Cajun food in the world.

(Should do great in Baton Rouge though.)

Let's be honest, Baton Rouge does not have much in the way of even decent BBQ.

Why not open it in Ascension Parish. The land of no BBQ joints. (except for one in a shopping center)

I don't think the patrons in Ascension Parish would show up in droves tp eat BBQ, listen to music outdoors, and play volleyball. AP folks also eat out far less frequently on average than do EBR people.

Why eat out when I can cook better than most restaurants in AP?

Just mad that the food board doesn’t love his date night choices of Red Lobster and Olive Garden.

Let's be honest, some places have a "cook at home" culture and others have an "eating out culture". Growing up in AP with roots going back many generations, they were always "cook at home" people, often cooking what they personally grew in gardens. For us, fast food was a TREAT! We were REWARDED with Taco Bell or MacDonalds on our BIRTHDAYS! I'm only 30, btw, so this wasn't that long ago.

When people are eating a much lower percentage of their overall meals outside of the home, it limits the number of restaurants per capita a region can reasonably sustain, and within that region, it severely limits both the quantity and diversity of offerings.

Also, Bergeron's is on Highway 30, and they do solid BBQ, but it's a weekly special. A lot of places are like that, only doing plate lunches because most of the "takeout" business is dealing with chemical plants where the workers can't actually leave work to get food at the restaurants and must rely on deliveries.
