I am still trying to pronounce this.

No lie, I Googled this one. I have a fondness for superfluous words; however, in this case it is literally meaningless.

I'm thinking it's pronounced "mary-vonty-CRO-nacy". I don't have a clue as to its definition, or its ultimate etymology.

Am I the only one wondering why this is not on the OT or Poli board?

Me too, zero result. Which is quite impressive considering I just banged my head on the keyboard twice and got 50 pages of results.

1. The writers are wannabe journalist. It's an increasingly unimportant profession in an overly saturated marketplace.
2. The reality of #1 doesn't diminish the overly-inflated sense of self importance most "journalist" and wannabe journalist feel. Thus, they feel it is their obligation to be modern day muckrakers...
3. Unfortunately for them, society is really, really good right now and there are far, FAR, less inequalities that exist today than at any point in US, let alone, LSU history. Therefore, they have to go out and essentially invent controversial issues to satisfy their need to be the next Upton Sinclair. They have to create "victims" for whom to champion, "villains" to fight against and "wrongs" that need to be righted by our hero and completely "selfless" journalist.
In short, it's an effort to make themselves relevant in a world where they are becoming less relevant by the day

If you have any opinion you should be brave enough to espouse and then support it. I graduated from LSU 12 years ago and professors may have been more liberal than students but the student body was very conservative. I remember a few protestors handing out anti-bush pamphlets the night we invaded Iraq and they hugely outnumbered and shouted down.
Undergrads are more conservative and I agree as you move up in the Grad school things become more left leaning but that's because the very idea of academia at that level is to question the status quo and move the world forward so admittedly there are some interesting ideas out there.
I'm a year away from finishing my dissertation and although my cohort is more left leaning, no one has ever been ostracized for conservative views.

The Daily Mississippian at Ole Miss was the same shite.
"Wha wha wha white people are racist by birth wha wha wha"
The crosswords were clutch though in boring classes.

Do you need a safe space to hide in? Better be a freezer, because you've just melted like a snowflake in the sun.

There has been stuff going on for many years.
I was held up at gunpoint near the old Power dorm. I wanna say it happened in the early 80s.

You should get more informed..the LSU Journalism School is doing very well, and is well-respected by its peers. Manship grads are getting great jobs and representing the university and the profession very well.

What were the 5 racist incidents? Just so I know whose descendants to attack. TIA
