The resurrection of posters

It seems there has been a trend as of late. Numerous posters have "found" TD again after a long hiatus (in some cases, MANY years).
I'm not sure of the reason (boredom? Info etc.), but in the very least, it is an interesting scenario illustrating the "pull" of TD and the OTL.
The next question I have from a tech side is: could their accounts have been hacked?
A new account can easily suggest when a person is a farm troll, bot, or shill.
An old, "resurrected" account...not so much.
Maybe they are just loooong time lurkers.
Some, however, have thousands of posts and I don't remember them at all.
My post is simply a limited observation and may be a coincidence. I just felt that it was worth noting.
