I'm really looking forward to this documentary. It's a shame how many families and lives have been ruined by this epidemic.

: just read your original post from a couple years ago. You said you went to his parents to help him but the article posted here states his dad didn’t know about his son’s drug problem.

They didn't know he was doing crack/coke/anything heavier than weed.

Yea, I just watched the trailer and noticed he said he didn’t know his son had a “serious” drug problem. So it does appear he knew he had an issue but didn’t know it was a big one.

I’m sorry for your loss. Losing a good friend is a totally different kind of death loss, I know first hand. This docuseries looks amazing and I can’t wait to watch it. Hopefully it brings some much needed attention to the problem.

He was doing crack? I don't know much about it but that seems like a drug that would be hard to hide from your parents when you are living in their house.

I doubt he was actually doing it at home

Thanks! Sent it to all of my Rx school classmates. We all started working in New Orleans during this time. Dealt with Clegett’s garbage on a daily basis.

Where was his pharmacy? Was it in the parish? I think Danny graduated from Hannan 3 years before me but I don’t remember.

I know several people that knew him. We will absolutely be watching this.

St. Bernard still has a bad pill problem. About a year or so ago, they busted another pharmacist down here and he has been accused of having stolen scripts and was writing prescriptions himself and filling them. He lived in our neighborhood and when the feds raided his house, that was a fun day in the hood lol.

it's an epidemic..

look at the homeless situation...it's due to addictions..

Although I distanced myself from him (I have big time guilt for that) when he started using drugs, he was a brother to me. As I've mentioned in my other threads he and I were born on the same day, in the same hospital, delivered by the same doctor 10 minutes apart. We lived on the same street in Chalmette(they were 4 blocks up the street though) and we had all our bday parties at his grandmother's house every year because she had a pool.

In one of our middle school years, his dad bought that red mustang you see in the long trailer I linked and tore it to the chassis. During that summer Mr Danny, Lil Danny and myself all put it back together. When my dad died when I was 15 Mr. Danny stepped in whenever I needed fatherly guidance and advice and still does to this very day. They live 5 minutes from me here in Mandeville now.

We were all devastated with Danny's death. I'm just glad to see this will get national attention and maybe help someone dealing with similar issues.

He worked for Bradley's Pharmacy in Poydras. Danny graduated Hannan in 95, a year after I graduated Chalmette High in 94 (he was held back a year in elementary).

Thanks for sharing and sorry for your loss.

Your friend’s dad is a true patriot. We need more people like him who care more about our people than their bottom line.

The execs of the big pharma companies who pushed these drugs, are no different than the scumbag dealer on the corner. Unfortunately, none of them will probably ever see any jail time.
