You actually did say you haven't been going there...and for the purposes of this thread you did start the rumor

I haven't been going there because the a/c doesn't work the past few times.

I'm not going to sit in a hot and sticky bar to relax

Why are you so hell bent on me saying I get free drinks from there? I don't.

No worries, one of my best friend's just moved to Mansions in the Park and we walked over the day he moved in. I would bet I'll be at Olive tomorrow night at some point since I'm staying in his spare room this weekend.

I lived in Mansions in the Park when I moved to BR in 2007...and I hold it personally against Olive or Twist and Rum House that they weren't open at that time. We actually walked to FQD on occasion if we wanted to not have a designated driver. Playing Frogger across both Perkins and Essen - not fun.

I wouldn't say hell bent, just putting 2 & 2 together.

You said the staff is getting drunk and giving the alcohol away. Over your years being friends with bartenders (in general)that they rob the place blind.
You're a regular. So, logically, who does the staff hookup? The mimosa/brunch/total strangers or the regulars/friends?

To be a frequent patron of the place that you claim is giving away alcohol and then say you don't get hooked up is laughable.

Does a staff member know your handle or something? If so backtracking off that statement makes a lot of sense.

Laugh all you want. Just because I frequented the place doesn't mean I'm all honkey dorry with the bartenders.

I frequent the bulldog the most and I don't get free stuff from them.

That's because they all think you're a kangaroo dickbag.

Wait, I don't usually get hooked up there either.

Way to dodge my questions in that post.

So
1.you're in the know enough to hear the "taxes" rumor.
2. Have plenty of bartender friends
3. Tell the main guy the staff is giving away booze.

Do you frequently check your friends or other patrons tabs? How would you be privy to such knowledge otherwise?

I go to the Bulldog, know some people and occasionally they buy me a beer.

Your statement about the bar staff giving away the house but you not receiving any of it doesn't add up.

However, the other likely scenario is that you are holding a grudge that you don't get hooked up, thus ratting out the staff and other regulars, potentially costing those you have grievance(in this scenario) with to lose their job and be replaced...maybe with your bartender friends?

Since you now say you are a regular who isn't tight with the staff(you must be a poor tipper, a pain in the arse or both) how do you know they are giving away booze?

Why don't you two gentleman knock off of work early and have a friendly beer together.

Yea I don't recommend that walk.

I think they owe you some reparations or something for not coming up with their bar ideas/location sooner.

Don't be so sure of that. One of the managers lives next door to me and he told me they are having financial issues and he's taking another position out of town.

I had the same surprise as many would. That place has good rep and always full of people.

The whole kitchen crew was on the prowl for work last week. Debt is one of the biggest issues that i heard, didn't hear anything about the taxes.

Not really man, just saw guy throw a staff under the bus in a long winded post (because you're actually invested) who is now crawfishing when pressed using deductive reasoning challengling said claims.

Olive or Twist isn't going anywhere. Sales are 5x what they were before the expansion. We don't have financial problems, we had labor problems. Just paid a $12k audit from our Worker's Comp policy for having $200k over estimated labor costs for the policy year. And paying that was not a big deal. Sales jumped a lot, and so did costs. I was ready to take back over day to day operations, this has been my first week doing so and I'm excited to be doing it again. I'm not sure how me making tough decisions to get labor costs under control turned into tax issues and we're in financial ruins, but I'm just trying to get things back on track. Let managers go just so I could get back in control and figure out what's going on and why our profit margin has gone to shite. For the AC concerns, it was recommended to us to have 8 tons of AC, we have 10 tons and it literally has been a nightmare trying to figure out what to do about it. It's shoulder to shoulder 3-4 nights a week and every Sunday brunch and it just can't keep up with the door constantly opening and closing. There was no room to add AC in the back of the space, but have gotten approval from property management to add 2x 3 ton AC splits to the front of the building. Hopefully, 16 tons of AC will be able to keep up. Unfortunately, it will be too little too late for this summer. And for the last comment, even though we're typically 75% female clientele, we welcome dudes holding hands drinking girly drinks, women holding hands drinking manly drinks or singles and straight couples hanging out drinking whatever they want to drink.

Y’all need to cut out bottomless drinks at brunch. I like the bar but avoid brunch like the plague because the crowd is unruly

In the know? Go hangout in the same places for years and you will hear all kinds of shite. I said I heard it from 2 people I trusted. 1 being a regular at Olive and the other being a Bulldog employee.

The owner knows his employees were stealing from him. I guess thats why he questioned why he was losing money and why he is now back to a hands on approach like he said

quote:

Do you frequently check your friends or other patrons tabs? How would you be privy to such knowledge otherwise?

Well when the bartenders are obviously drinking and/or drunk, that means theyre stealing to me. Pouring shots for themselves and just making extras for the friends at the bar. Yea thats not going on any bills.

How often do you see Bulldog bartenders doing shots behind the bar or having beers while working? Ill answer that. You dont ever see it.

quote:

However, the other likely scenario is that you are holding a grudge that you don't get hooked up, thus ratting out the staff and other regulars, potentially costing those you have grievance(in this scenario) with to lose their job and be replaced...maybe with your bartender friends?

Holy shite lets jump to conclusions. I dont expect anything free from Olive or any other bar. Ive probably spent more money at the Bulldog than 99.9% of the people that have ever stepped foot in the bar and I expect jack squat from them. I dont even expect them to serve me before anyone. Id rather them serve a new person so maybe that person appreciates the service and comes back. They know theyre getting my business back.

And the house has already been cleaned at Olive. Nothing I said in here is news to the owner or anyone that frequents the place and nothing I said will hurt their business or employees going forward. You on the other hand came into the thread and bashed the shite out of the place calling it hipster, fake hipster, etc. I defended the place while you conveniently say you dont even go. So youre bashing a place on here you dont even go to but Im the one doing damage

quote:

Since you now say you are a regular who isn't tight with the staff(you must be a poor tipper, a pain in the arse or both) how do you know they are giving away booze?

See above about how I know theyre giving away free booze. Im neither of the 3 things as a bar customer. Since you seem to be a Bulldog customer and you know so much about me from this thread, ask the managers about a regular named Jones and see if im a bad tipper and a pain in the arse.

So theres your answer to your shittastic opinion

I heard our high school reunion was held there a couple weeks ago. It sounded like it did fine as a privately rented venue I didn't even know you could rent the place out. I wonder if they got a deal since it was hurting for business.

I've never been other than running to their bathroom during Spanish Town once.

Yep. Plus Denham, Central, and probably Zachary.

Downtown BR is weird man. I mean.. I end up in some cities comparable to BR in size.. and their downtown areas are booming with restaurants and craft beer bars and full patios. Even if they only have ~15-20 places down on their little strip, they're really hopping.

Our downtown is so odd.
