Downtown will be dead again in a few years anyways

Not sure why I’m being downvoted, this is the third large establishment to close on 3rd street in the last few months. If you can’t see the writing on the wall I don’t know what to tell you

The downtown nightclub 1913 owned by former East Baton Rouge Metro Councilman John Delgado was set to close Thursday after nearly three years in business.

In a posting on the 1913 Facebook page, a club official said the lounge was closing after a private event.
I wonder if Delgado ever paid the back taxes he owed for his businesses. I heard he was withholding taxes from his employees paychecks and not submitting the funds to the IRS.

When I think of nightlife, I don't think of Baton Rouge.

The entire City's culture is corrupt and flawed.

Yeah. Bottle service from former strippers was never gonna be a real sustainable model in a town full of 30k-ionnaires.

I know it hit the fan a couple weeks ago when it came out he wasn’t carrying Workman’s Comp at Huey’s.

Yeah, one of his bartenders got hurt on the job, and the truth came out. The girl also claimed that she never received a paycheck, only tips.

I don’t know how Delgado’s not in jail. He pushes shady to new limits.

I went once when I was in town for a wedding. Late into the night me and my podnahs found ourselves there. I will say this, I’ve been in worse. Definitely not a place I’d go again unless I was shithouse.

I’ve heard a ton of stuff over the years about the guy’s shady dealings. In a town full of slimy businessmen, he gives slimy a bad rap.

Delgado and Bayard might be two of the worst bar owners in Baton Rouge in the last 20 years. Given that list it’s pretty impressive
