Happys gets pretty crowded on Fridays. Everything else seems pretty dead or not

Hence fake hipster...it's a place where yuppies go to feel hip.

Like Perkins Rowe was a fake "downtown district"...

i still dont get it. nothing in there is hipster. on weekends during brunch and the afternoon its dominated by black people.

happy hour is the after work crowd.

their draft selection and liquor selection screams nothing in the hipster area

I agree. It’s funny how things were trending upwards for downtown only a few short years ago. It’s gone downhill drastically. Peak years were 2009-2013 or so.

Wouldn't it have been funny to see 1913 on Bar Rescue and Tafford yelling at Juan.

The decor is most certainly hipster.

Olive or Twist and Radio Bar had very similar inspirations.

Like most places, location is everything. O or T provides the same hip atomsphere (+food) that the Radio Bar does to a more affluent part of the city, while keeping up with the "modern" bar style.

The lighting, which I believe is Edison, is definitely hipstsr inspired. The uniforms, as you acknowledged.

Sidenote, what kind crowd is an after work crowd? Like Thor said "all words are made up"...Aren't most happy hour crowds "after work" regardless of their subculture? Do you frequent the place?

I'm not saying hipsters go there, that place is too far away from the hipster scene in BR...but it's close for those who want Radio Bar but don't want to drive across town.

Regardless, if they close, it sucks people will be unemployed, but I don't go there, so I won't miss it.

There isnt much decor in the place. Its a big open room unless youre talking about the lighting

An after work crowd as in an attorney gets off of work there and has 2 beers and heads home. The banker gets off and has 2 drinks before going home.

I used to frequent the place. Ive basically wrote them off when they forgot that you need air conditioning in south LA.

Radio Bar has a shuffle board table, a ping pong table, the Shins and Smiths on 24/7, and no food. Olive isnt the Radio Bar of the other side of town

Yes & I'd take Radio 7/7. Olive or Twist is nothing special.

Also, Jones, O or T music when I've been there was in the same vain.Again, the barista who gets off their shift and goes to Radio for a few beers before going home is also an after work patron. They just might have a handle bar mustache.

Plenty of bars in BR that aren't hipster have ping pong tables.

O or T is fake hipster, hipster lite or yupster, if you will. Overpass Merchant is the same way.

Neither place is Bulldog or The Cove.

Nor are they great dives like old Timeout or Vineyard.

if i had to pick one of these 3 descriptions, it would be yupster. i think the employees wardrobes has more weight than the customers though in this regard

rumor told to me is the cove might be closing also

I learned many a thing from the crowd that went to the time out. That was a place where only regulars were welcome. The vineyard might be a shithole by your standards but it’s not a bad dive bar. If you ever wanted to go out and be low key, both of these places were acceptable.

Yuppies go to the Bulldog and Ivars.

How old was the girl Delgado got caught banging in bar?
