I hit the Radio Bar a couple of times a month.

No Try Hard there at all. More like Try Not The music is a change of pace for me but not bad. $2.50 PBR’s with a lime wedge are a much better deal than $11 Martinis, fwiw.

Out of 30-50 people there, maybe 3-4 seem to be hipster attired and they are usually in their own group.

Will need to try O or T.

Nothing in O or T said hipster to me. It's usually professionals sitting down talking and drinking when I go.

You mean you can't make money on the Culcha of BR?

Gravy says Culcha is an untapped goldmine.

This is the want to be culcha.
These are the people that dressed like thugs in high school that never stepped a foot outside a white neighborhood.

The smart cash only establishments that do well are hole in the wall places, in NBR or the way BR is going soon to be anywhere in the city, I bet most do not know or care about a liquor license, caters to the real didndonuffins, and sell malt liquor for martini price.

Remember for tax purposes these places probably are losing money while the business owner pockets cash.

Think about it
Who can trace liquor you are buying to resale if buy around wholesalers?

No one can trace cash financial transactions for drugs or ladies of the night?

Dealing with 100% clientele that pays cash?

Let me ask you again Who wants to run a ghetto bar again more profitable or a heavy regulated martini bar?

Every time I passed the place, I would easily be the minority in there. I only went one time when it first opened and it was enough for me to not step foot back in there.

I do remember Delgado trying to sell expensive wine and Ace of Spades champagne.

If downtown closed 1913 and Shitty Bar, normal people may go back.

Delgado and Bayard might be two of the worst bar owners in Baton Rouge in the last 20 years. Given that list it’s pretty impressive

You’re forgetting Darrin Dominguez from Brightside.

Don't be so sure of that. One of the managers lives next door to me and he told me they are having financial issues and he's taking another position out of town.

I had the same surprise as many would. That place has good rep and always full of people.

I know nearly half the bar staff quit because of one of the managers, but I don't see that place slowing down. They need to hire an actual chef to work the kitchen because their food is extremely spotty. It should have just stayed a bar and never ventured into the new space IMO.

I would be very, very shocked if they closed their doors.

First, you are thinking of Bengal Tap Room. It's the old Punchers/3rd Street Pub/Etc.

Second, the old Office is part of Cecelia (Old IPO) called "The Loft". It's basically an event/reception hall.

Nah, just "darker". North BR will just expand a little.

This is one of the things I got from a pretty reliable source that Delgado was doing at 1913. He was also shuffling liquor from his other bars in there. All because of a $10k check he bounced to a distributor, who promptly cut him off.

This was a couple of years ago. Looks like all this shite might finally be catching up to him.

Olive or Twist? That's one of the few places in town that draws solid business on off nights. Even if there were some cash flow problems it seems like the better solution would be tightening the screws a bit or selling the business outright vs. shutting the doors.

Although, the people who own that building got absolutely fleeced by Iberia bank.

The extra Police presence and a handful of fights don't result in losing business IMO, and should be able to be weathered. It's SWB who killed downtown by all of a sudden enforcing open container laws and in general not giving a crap about anything but North BR. Has there been a single new project announced down there in her tenure?

While SWB didn't help with the open container enforcement, fights and general trashyness 100% effected business. It's also just easier to go to the Overpass area. My group of friends used to go a lot when there were 5-6 bars we could hop around. Now, Happys and MAYBE B&Ts are about the only bars I'll frequent.
