Do you olive or twist defenders ever notice how it’s always 80% dudes drinking girly drinks and holding hands? I’ve only been once and that was enough

I've really only seen that at about 10%, the clientele is a good mix of everybody. The lone exception is Sunday brunch which appears to have people hanging out for hours and leaving crappy tips.

Literally don't disagree with anything you said.

More on the AC situation, I've thought the restaurant side AC was not suitable for high occupancy since it was there before us, but AC people have said it's fine. Also, the bar side AC didn't originally have an open kitchen below it and the restaurant side AC didn't originally have walk in cooler refrigeration next to it. Unfortunately, I was an idiot never thought about that... Like I said, it's been a nightmare. Can't wait for it to cool down lol. And, we'll regroup for warm months for next summer.

I couldn't agree more with the backbar situation. You have no idea. Drives me insane. Just way way way too much shite. Try to do too much. Part of it is busy sometimes and a lot of it is too much shite. Working on that.

And for Sunday brunches it's a crazy rock and a hard place situation. We do Friday night sales for brunch every week and I like money. I thought it would get better getting rid of bottomless mimosa cocktails. Stopped allowing mimosas in wine glasses. Thought it would get better raising prices on popular food items. Still a shite show every Sunday. Staff hates it. I puss out and avoid it (I'll always be there now). But, we still have 50-60 people there every week waiting for us to unlock the door. Like I said, rock and a hard place situation.

I would throw in that during restaurant week make sure to order extra food. The last two times I went during restaurant week yall were out of something. The first time yall literally ran out of every option on the menus.

I realize at times it's hard to judge plus if it's an item that takes a while to prep and you run out, you can't just make it on the fly. Just a tid bit I wanted to throw out there.

Yea really the only gripe ive heard lately from regular bar people like me is the a/c thing. Once that is fixed, all those people will be back.

The weekend brunch ordeal is just one of those things where the regular will probably just avoid if the crowd stays the same. Its the same thing with Wednesday night at the Bulldog. The regulars avoid it but hey I cant blame yall or Bulldog for having those. Thats good money days.

Fortunately a few of the bartenders still grandfather me in because they know I can handle my booze.

I don't even bother for Sunday brunch anymore, but went on Saturday a few weeks ago and there was no issue at all with the AC. I guess it can keep up when it's not packed and doors open constantly.

Ive been in there enough over the past few years to know what was going on and ive been friends with enough bartenders to know what happens when the owners arent around. Unless youre there monitoring the bartenders or you have cameras on them watching them, theyre gonna rob you blind every chance they get.

lol you're on fire in this thread. You have successfully...
1. Started a rumor
2. Complained about a crowd that isn't the regulars
3. Ratted out your bartender friends
who definitely give you free drinks
4. Grabbed the main guys attention and established your importance
5. addressed legitimate building and cleanliness issues

I'm sure there is a gift card in your future. Bravo sir.

6. Turned a thread about a Delgado downtown fustercluck night club into a Q&A with the owner of a completely unrelated, and not similarly themed, bar across town.

I didnt start it. I said it was told to me by 2 different people whose opinions I trusted.

This has been going around the Perkins road bar scene for a little while.

The weekend brunch crowd deserves its criticism

Its no secret what the bartenders were doing there.
My gf and I would actually laugh because my tab was never discounted or anything.

I guess I could have come in and insulted the place like you did and proceed to tell everyone that I also dont even go to the bar.

Maybe you need the gift card

I am not sure how anyone who has been to OoT could believe they have financial problems. The place always has a crowd, I miss the old days where there was always a seat at the bar and my drink was made between the time I got out of my car and when I sat down at the bar.

I am glad Duke chimed in, still my favorite bar in BR. Congrats on the success.

I live around the corner and it was becoming a regular place for me. Hell, even my parents starting going a couple times a week. Then they dropped all the menu items we liked to order.

Only been back a couple times now.

Amen brother, the bottomless mimosa crowd certainly keeps me away on weekends

Lol at the 75% women comment. The dozens of times I’ve been there must have been atypical then. Same buck to doe ratio as any other higher end bar in the city

You actually did say you haven't been going there...and for the purposes of this thread you did start the rumor.

If you're trying to get me to believe that your friends who bartend don't you hook up, quite frankly I think you're lying or got too drunk to notice a drink or two missing off your tab. Any regular, especially a FoB, gets hooked up. Ask any bar consultant group, like Bar Metrix, they'll tell you the same thing. Regulars cost a bar more money than most people realize.

I have my criticisms of the place, so I don't go there. I also said I hope it doesn't go out of business. You legitimately like that place and got on the OT to say the place has tax problems and is closing, you don't like the brunch crowd and the regulars who get free drinks from your friends don't like the place especially when the AC goes down(the only real legitimate complaint). You've also established a connection to the main guy.Don't be dishonest, now.

Yeah this is complete bullshite. Why do some many people bash downtown who clearly don’t spend any time out there.

We go there quite a bit and I’ve never had a problem and have always felt safe. There is lots of police presence but I see that as a plus.

I'm not mad. I had already heard there was a rumor going around from one of my best friends and was just going to let it go and die by still being open a year from now rather than addressing it on Facebook or somewhere. Addressing it on TD is much easier than Facebook lol. I'm not surprised any rumors started, either.. You make drastic changes and people will wonder why/talk about it. It becomes like the game you play as a kid where you whisper a secret in an ear and go around the room and then see what the secret is by the time it's done going around.

We haven't figured out Restaurant Week... Not surprised you've had issues, and I'm sorry. Issue is prep and wish we could hire people just for a week, because we have so many issues keeping up and maintaining quality and ticket times and well, everything. All of the chefs we've had hate restaurant week, as I'm sure most do, and even though they bust their butts, it just has seemed like it wasn't enough for the 3-4 times we've participated.

I worked quite a number of them; believe me I know the struggles it creates and the clientele it brings.

No worries, one of my best friend's just moved to Mansions in the Park and we walked over the day he moved in. I would bet I'll be at Olive tomorrow night at some point since I'm staying in his spare room this weekend.
