My definition is: 1st cousins marry, have 7 children, 5 with birth defects and live in a 42' single wide on families undivided .57 acres of pastureland below Delcambre. Windows covered in tin foil and toilets drain into coulee.

Besides Louisiana and Florida, the white folk who settled in the South were overwhelmingly of Scottish/Irish descent. They became what is known as redneck/white trash/hillbilly etc.

Agreed. Also there is a saying regarding Pennsylvania that it is Philadelphia in the East, Pittsburgh in the West, and Alabama in the middle. There is an element of truth to that saying.
