I've never heard of Choc out of Oklahoma.

1919?

Have I been living under a rock or is that just a highly localized thing?

Faubourg Brewing Company is a brewery founded in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 31, 1907 and originally named Dixie Brewing Company. The brewing operation was located on Tulane Avenue until 2005 when it closed due to damage from Hurricane Katrina. After that the beer was contract brewed out of state until November 2019 when a new brewery opened in New Orleans. In 2021 the brewery was renamed the Faubourg Brewing Company.

I guess Dixie Beer kinda went woke also....

Oldest that is still operating. Or still operating under the same name and stayed within the state.

A lot of breweries shutdown in the same time these craft breweries were coming up.

Dixie stayed producing, but not within the state, then changed names. Abita moved, but stayed within Abita/La.

Oldest active brewery would be more accurate. There were breweries in Bham that were way older than Good People, but were shut down during prohibition.

i can barely read any of that shite.

What is even the GA one?

One of those looks like the damn Canadian soccer crest.

Abita and Shiner are the most recognizable to me. Oh and coors.

Funny that most of the states are relatively recent.

A few old ones on the east coast.

And then you have Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan, who clearly said “step one - become a state and get things up and running. Step two - beer.”

Anchor Brewing went out of business this year, I think the oldest active brewery in California now is Sierra Nevada - 1979.

It seems clear that's what they were going for because this is true for a lot of places:
quote:

There were breweries in Bham that were way older than Good People, but were shut down during prohibition.

The ones that held on through prohibition tended to go under when Miller and AB started really going hard nationwide and pushing the local companies out. New Orleans had a lot of breweries at one point as well. A lot of old cities did, especially those that attracted German and Irish immigrants.
