Because they became status symbols for people to wear in warm weather climates when they aren't really status symbol quality.

ahh. thanks.
I only bought one when I moved to a cold area. I thought they were good at keeping me warm / dry without being very bulky. They aren't status symbols where i live so maybe that is why I missed out on the trend.

Do you wear your North Face when you hold a penis in your mouth?

North face seems to make nice jackets. My wife has one and wears it to work every winter. I've been buying Columbia for yrs now and have no reason to switch or spend extra money on more popular brands. It's held up really well and it's way to easy to just run over to academy to purchase.

Actually North Face was big in the mid 80s. By 1989 nobody was wearing it any longer.

I wonder if Jack Wolfskin is the Northface of Germany. I see it worn everywhere year round.
Either way, I have a big camping trip coming up and this is where I will be getting my gear.

Actually, Mountain Hardware is Columbia jackets. And, I don't think Summit Series Norh Face is a lower tier jacket. It is all about how it is filled, whether it is lite weight and it will insulate you keep you warm. I have jackets from Norhface, Patagonia, Moutain Hardware, etc. I find my Summit Series 800 fill North Face is the best of them.

I love The North Face but the company is starting to lose a lot of market share to this new brand.
