So basically you're saying the only thing that matters about a car is the image it conveys (i.e. You buy cars based on what others think).

No coincidence that the people shitting on Kia based purely on a perception from 20 years ago are among the dumbest on this board.

Didn't Kia steal BMWs lead designer a few years ago?

Someone should have posted the picture without the logo and I bet the responses would have been different

I own a 2014 Kia and I've not really ever had problems with the car. Only issue I've ever had was when my brother fricked it up, and my dealership (all star ) a gigantic pile of steaming shite to work with.. but the car itself has been great as a commuter.

I saw one up close at a KIA dealership two weeks ago. Beautiful vehicle.

Dual turbo, 10-speed trans, and very nice interior.

Was not allowed a test drive.

That symbol looks way better than the KIA badge and I bet would help sales, esp since it looks kinda like the Lexus symbol. The word Kia just sounds cheap and it's hard to get people to pay a lot of money for something that sounds cheap.

8 speed tranny.

They have a base twin turbo 2L with 255hp 260p/ft and a 3.3L twin turbo w/ 365/376.

Kia just hired Leclercq who was a BMW designer (not head) but that was this year. YOu may be thinking about Albert Bierman who was a VP in BMW's M(otorsport) division. he now is head of high performance development at Kia, he also worked on the Genesis line at Hyundai.

I owned a Kia Borrego SUV for five years. It was reliable and tough. My hub lost his job, and now has to commute to Lafayette. So we had to downsize to a Toyota. I miss that Car,really do. It would have been great to have during the flood.

KIA and Hyundai are putting out quality cars now and the warranty is great.... Issue is people are still thinking they are cheap cars based on their name.
This is why I would not buy either anytime soon. However, I have taken note that over the past few years the KIA design team is doing a great job. Hyundai are the ugliest cars on the road to me.

I doubt Kia will build a separate Kia line as it might cannibalize Genesis sales. Likely it will use Kia as a sportier alternative to Hyundai in the future which makes sense considering they moved Biermann to Kia.

That's because the guy who heads up the sport division used to be the head of BMW's M division.

Edit: nothing to see here, move along.
