How is it not offensive? They are wealthy atheletes living the American dream. They are in the NFL because of their own hard work, desire to win, and to earn big money.
I would like to know what the frick are they complaining about? What do they think they are accomplishing by being disrespectful to their country and fans? How is this encouraging anyone?
There should be an expectation that National Football League atheletes will be respectful of American customs. Stand for our anthem or go kick cans in North Korea!

Are they not more qualified to give their opinion than most people, then? A large portion of football players come from nothing.

As has been traditionally understood, the National Anthem and the Flag were representative of the USA - freedoms (and those who sacrificed to obtain/preserve these), opportunity, etc AND the freedom to change those things with which one disagrees without resorting to violence.
So against the backdrop of generations standing and saluting, when someone kneels it is looked upon as despising the very essence of the USA itself and those who sacrificed for it.
Even when BHO was POTUS, that didn't change the National Anthem or what the Flag stood for. They represented an opportunity to change what he was advocating.

Being that I'm the only person in this thread that actually fought for freedom and risked my neck for this country, I think I'm qualified to say that the national anthem is a huge waste of time.
