re: The Murder Rate Is Suddenly Falling

Gun control supporters demand that state legislatures impose a wide variety of gun control restrictions within their borders. However, they hypocritically cry foul when legislatures use their power to limit gun control. Frustrated at their inability to convince state legislatures to adopt the restrictive firearm laws they propose, gun control supporters say that local jurisdictions should be able to adopt those restrictions independently. Aside from gun control supporters’ hypocrisy, there are multiple arguments against local restrictions on basic firearm rights.
Historically, some local jurisdictions have imposed clearly unconstitutional restrictions on gun ownership—the District of Columbia’s and Chicago’s since-overturned handgun bans being two recent examples. It also creates confusion when laws vary widely within a state, potentially placing otherwise law-abiding citizens at risk of violating an ordinance of which they were not previously aware, as they travel within their states, and more so when they travel outside their state of residence.
As a result, almost all states today have a law prohibiting local jurisdictions from imposing gun control restrictions that are more severe than state law.

Here’s a link to the NRA, local ordinances will be preempted in most cases. Local gov can’t do much

This can't be. Record high number of firearms and falling homicide rates.
Ive been told repeatedly there is a correlation.

Can we compare how the current statistics are collected and compiled versus prior years?
This is key. “Definitions” tend to change to appease a certain story. OR, if a covid patient had bullet holes in him, what does the death certificate say?

The interstate shootings and car jackings have all but stopped in Nola. But the car window bashings are at an all time high.

Maybe the population went down bc they are shite holes and less people available to be murdered. People are moving out of those shite holes.

Murder is up in 26 of the 74 cities (35 percent)
Whereas some cities are doing worse.

Atlanta has strict gun laws?

Local govts can and do prosecute people for violation of local gun ordinances.

This just means more inexperienced shooters are involved. Request the non fatal shooting stats and get back with us.

This is wonderful news, and I think that all congressional officials and the president and vice president should go walking the streets of all these major cities at night without their private security, like the rest of us commoners.

Maybe. Many murder meccas are losing population.
What natural selection couldn't do, fentanyl and a lack of impulse control is doing.

Looks like the limit and days to hunt will be reduced.

In theory these ordinances you speak of cannot be more restrictive than the controlling state law

Well, enjoy your theory while you're sitting in jail waiting for someone to challenge it in higher court 10 years from now.
City councils vote on and pass ordinances restricting guns and the local government prosecutes people based on those ordinances. You won't admit it, so I'll just tell you that you're wrong and we'll leave it at that.
