I have a coworker from SD. He says the overall expanse and flat emptiness of where he was born gave his wife claustrophobia as she had never been from an unpopulated area before.

If you think that’s a wide range then you’ve never been around a menopausal woman.

Downsloping winds and the air coming down was already much warmer.

Then the cold got pushed back toward the mountains.

I feel like that should be called “agoraphobia.”

Something I just googled is that may not be accurate either.

I found a term "kenophobia."

The more you know, maybe.

Satan's Storm in Koppel, Texas

quote:

But on June 15, 1960, residents of the tiny town of Kopperl, Texas experienced a heatwave the likes of which they'd never dreamed. Residents awoke thinking their house was on fire due to the overwhelming hot air. Others thought the world was ending. The air outside was stifling, making it hard to breathe. In a matter of minutes, temperatures rose from 70 degrees to 140 degrees Fahrenheit.

The hot winds increased to 70 mph.

A "heat burst" due to atmospheric compression.

Yes, "sort of" is definitely more accurate. I conducted 30 seconds of research. Gonna start writing my preprint now.

What about Socorro, New Mexico on July 16, 1945 - over less than a second the temperature increased from about 70° f to about 2,500° f.
