I don't even think I'd consider Brightstar a steakhouse for Bama. It is definitey one of the more iconic restaurants in the state for its history, but I don't know anyone that would consider it a steakhouse in the traditional sense. You can get steak, sure, but probably has more seafood options than it does steak. It is just a southern style restaurant.

I'll tell you a dark horse for Florida that surprised the heck out of me:

The NYY Steakhouse in the Coconut Creek casino. If you can stomach the NY Yankees motif and photos, the steaks and food are topnotch - at least as of 3-4 yrs ago. Haven't been there in a while.

Dickie Brennan's isn't even the best/most iconic steakhouse in New Orleans. Charlies or Crescent City Steakhouse FTW.

I had part of my bachelor party at the one for Louisiana. Great steak but I don’t remember too much else because of the alcohol afterward.

I disagree with Gibsons being the most iconic in Illinois

I think Bavette’s has a better atmosphere and steak with their red velvet couches, basement bar etc

NORTH CAROLINA: Angus Barn in Raleigh

That truly was a great steak

I think it was one of the largest restaurants I've ever visited.

I guess iconic does not mean the best steak, but the most memorable experience.

TEXAS: The Big Texan Steak Ranch in Amarillo

I loved the atmosphere at Big Texan, but don't remember the steak being amazing.

Some of these lists need to filter out the chains and stick to uniquely local places.

Otherwise you might have a list that could say Texas Roadhouse is the best steakhouse in Texas.

But let’s face the true facts of these “lists,” some of them are just paid propaganda/advertising to get you to visit. Either it is the restaurant or local tourism board that is pushing for these places.

LA Tourism and/or Jefferson Parish has been pumping the hell out of Grand Isle as makes a list every other day like best small town beach, best place to visit that you may not heard of, etc.

one of the coolest restaurants I've ever been to, got to know the manager fairly well and he would give us a tour of their wine cellar, they had $30k-$40k bottles of wine in there, and quite a few from Thomas Jefferson's vineyard

Is that the place where if you eat a supersized steak, it is free.

If I am ever in that locale, I might have to try the challenge.

I was going to post the exact same thing. Great restaurant? Yes. Iconic restaurant? Absolutely. But steakhouse? Not really. Steak is my favorite food and I ordered seafood the one time I ate there.

yep, 72oz. top sirloin, you have to eat it, and all of the sides and appetizer within one hour

The Big Texan in Amarillo?

It's not even the best steakhouse in Amarillo. Not even in the top 5 in the panhandle.

Or you could do what this lady did and eat three 72oz steaks and the sides in 20 minutes.
