October 26, 1881.
The Gunfight at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Arizona. It lasted only 30 seconds but quickly became one of the most iconic moments of the Old West.

The Netflix Documentary was great. 6 part series. Wyatt Earp and the Cowboy War.

The most surprising thing is to go there. It’s a very small space. Basically an alley and not at all like in the movies. It’s shocking that anyone missed at all at the short distance.

In the 20s Wyatt Earp was living in Pasadena CA. Legendary director John Ford tried to sell his story to Hollywood -- and got nowhere. Every studio insisted nobody gave a shite about this Earp person
Ford gave up the project upon Earp's death in 1929, and turned over the research material he'd gathered to a reporter, who published a highly embellished biography of Earp in 1931. This book is what put Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday, and the OK Corral on the pop culture map.
As early as the next year, there was a movie based on Earp (w/name changed)
This film features a brilliantly edited gunfight at the OK... Barn?

I have an autographed copy of a Doc Holliday biography written by his great niece.

They probably weren’t holding their revolvers and double barrel shotguns sideways.

30 seconds is a lifetime in a close quarters gunfight.

Was there once and doing a tourist carriage ride.. Of course the narrator had to tell us of all the places on the street.
Someone asked if there were any good places to eat.. ANd of course he pointed them all out and saved the Pizza place for last... Then he said: "Any Questions"
Of course: "What did Wyatt Earp like on his pizza?" was next.
"Pepperoni" he said happily.. "Pepperoni"
lame story.. but hey... My participation paycheck from Chicken bounced.
