Mississippi has a plan to widen I-10 to 6 lanes the whole way across Mississippi too. Once that’s eventually done and we’re all old men it’ll be a nice drive to the beach from Baton Rouge. At least to the Alabama line.

It needed to be 6 lanes the whole way all 87 miles yesterday. Louisiana is actually working on that.

Still not enough for future growth. Make the damn thing 12 lanes and be done with it.

There is an insane amount of traffic at I5 on that spot. I caught a late dodgers game one night and stayed in a hotel in Burbank. There were six lanes of traffic at 230 in the morning, all trucks from the Long Beach port heading to 10 or 40 further north.

If you make I-12 twelve lanes - it’ll be over water due to coastal erosion and the length of time to complete it

New Orleans will be a buoy in the lake pontchartrain of the gulf

Less surprised to see I26. It goes over the Smoky Mountains down to Asheville and people routinely go 90+ up and down 20-30° grades. If you come up on a car doing 55 with no chance to pass or fall asleep in the pitch black, you can easily end up going Thelma and Louise into a holler. It also has a bitch of an interchange onto I81.

I've taken this same stretch of road a few times going home to Pittsburgh so I can attest. That grade is steep AF.

Absolutely gorgeous though once you crest the top at the NC-TN line. You're at least 3,000 ft up.

ETA: 3,370ft. just before the state line. That has to be the highest elevation of any highway on the east coast. Maybe except for 441 at the NC-TN border at Clingman's Dome.

That'll give us more room to spread out during the inexplicable complete stoppages between Biloxi and Mobile.

I’ll never understand the amount of wrecks or accidents that happen because of wrong way drivers on I-45. It’s every week.

Local news said the most dangerous time frame for I45 is 2-4AM. So, drunks.

Possibly looking at poor lighting, signage, markings, and design.

Having lived in multiple parts of the country I can say irrefutably that the DFW area has, hands down, the absolute worst drivers known to man. They are worse than Chicago by a landslide.

I’m surprised 285 in Atlanta isn’t on there. Seems like a death trap especially on the East side. The connector at the interchange with 20 is dangerous too.

They had 75 listed.

Surprised 400 wasn't on there. That road is a superspeedway.

It’s mainly a straight line though which I think decreases the numbers.

I got a speeding ticket in your second pic last month. It’s like 8 degree grade. You coast at 85.

I drive to either Mandeville or New Orleans 3 times a week. There is no comparison, I12 is way more dangerous than I10

Why are we hitting trees and parked vehicles? All the drunks?

Some of it has to be intentional. There was that Mustang a few years back going 100 mph plus the wrong way which comes to mind. Slammed into a semi driving south bound.

ETA pic of Mustang

I guess NO is trying to make the list on creativity with all the shootings.

That's a fair point. Pretty much due north Dahlonega.
