Still a way cooler town than Tombstone which is just an unattractive tourist trap.

Agreed. Tombstone is just that dusty western street. Fun to visit to say you have been there....but not worth spending more than an hour or two there.

I would vote for Flagstaff....their little downtown area is awesome.

How does one even get to Whitefish, MT?

Puddle jump from either Seattle (Horizon) Denver (United) or Salt Lake City (Delta) to Glacier Park International Airport which is six miles northeast of Kalispell.

Roger, have you ever been to Tok?

Yeah, I've moose hunted up there. Thought about buying a few acres for a camp, land is cheap there.

I worked with a guy that called one day and told me he was picking up and moving to Tok(e). I had to pull a map up to find it. When I asked him why, he just said he wanted to raise dogs and nobody messes with you over there. Haven't heard from him since.
I guess he found his paradise.

Yeah, its cold and lots of mushers in the area. Not where I would settle but its very old school Alaska. Hunters, trappers, mushers..fire fighters.

I agree. You and I talked about Jerome a few years back. A strange but interesting place off the beaten path.

Yeah, if you're in the area it can be fun to stop for a beer at Big Nose Kate's or something but it's definitely not worth planning around or even staying the night.

Any list of small towns that does not list Ferriday is complete shite. Ferriday is the crown jewel of Louisiana.

Sounds pretty nice:

quote:

Tok is one of the most isolated communities in the United States. Although roads connect Tok to both Fairbanks and Anchorage (two of Alaska's most populous cities), the drive is approximately 3 hours 40 minutes or 6 hours 30 minutes, respectively. Therefore, Tok is primarily served by Tok Clinic and EMS. The two work together and are based within the same facility. Once stabilized, patients are typically airlifted via air ambulance to a hospital/medical center in Fairbanks (an approximately 1 hour 30 minute flight) if further treatment is needed.

I mean it's not called the Queen City for shits and giggles. Everyone should come take a tour of its natural beauty and gang related shootings!!

Yep. My vote would be for Blue Ridge or Madison. Newnan would be up there too.
