I have a good friend with it. He goes into full on tongue/throat swelling when exposed to mammal meat. He ahs to carry around an epi-pen because of it.
I pulled a tick off a few weeks back and it has me paranoid about it. I know that little fricker was on there a day or two before I found him. Hopefully he didn't carry that shite.

I have noticed lately that ticks tend to be in one type of locale in some cases. Visiting my sister in Tenn, I didnt get one in her yard or in the woods, but the second I stepped into the ditch between the woods and the road, I would get them. Point being, is that even tho they can live in practically any environment one may take note of where they infest the heaviest (in your area).

So I went ahead and had the blood test done. Test range is 0.1-100 kU/L. Normal people are at about 0.3 kU/L.
Mine came back over 100. Off the scale. I will have this for the rest of my life...

Dude that sucks. But if you are an overall heathy individual you could get over this in a matter of months to a year, or you could have it forever. Every case is different t

One of the nurses I worked with had this. Carries an epi pen everywhere. She got it on a vacation in WV

It's been easier than I thought. Just have to get creative. That said, the one that's tough to get around is a big fat juicy ribeye.

A buddy of mine in Nashville got this. No more red meat for him, although it was fun to antagonize him during tailgates.

Fwiw they are still trying to figure out what's wrong with me. I live in nashville and pull ticks off me several times a year from trail running and my dog.
Doc hasn't tested for this but I'm going to ask him to. They thought I had gallstones but I dont. Now he thinks stomach ulcer.
If you don't mind me asking, what are your symptoms? How long after eating meat do symptoms appear?

I get stomach pains/bloating after eating and headaches.

Sorry to hear that. About a week before you posted this I pulled one off my leg and got paranoid after reading this. I think Im good though but I'm in the woods a lot and it's crazy to even think about.

This is why when my family is in the woods, we do tick checks at every break. My 6yr old pulls out his balls and checks right out in the open

Don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but it's very possible. When I was looking for context on my test result, I found a forum where people were giving their numbers, and other symptom type info. It seems that if you are in the 10-50 or so range, you occasionally get the rash but mostly it's GI issues like you are describing. At over 100, I don't have any GI issues, just the hives and swelling. I also now have epi pens close by. Hives appear 4-6 hr after eating.
I would go to your doctor and explain the situation. My insurance paid for the test but it's only a couple hundred bucks.
