Perhaps OP should have acknowledged that the flute in his photo is not the James Madison flute. She was wearing modest clothing and she played it briefly in a civilized setting, and played it beautifully.

She can play the notes, but produces an undesirable breathy tone. I've looked at a number of videos of her playing and it's the same in each one; it isn't just the instrument itself. No wonder she dropped out
