How about read church doctrine, then come back and talk. What I did was a business decision, nothing more nor less. The work did not merit a high mark, that’s all.

Why isn't the thread titled "Kids today don't back up their arguments with good evidence"? Since that was the problem with the paper.

I just can’t believe people get offended by crap like this!

Very business like.

You should move up to the college level next and call your students a bunch of pussies and fgts. You can really show them who's boss

I comprehend just fine

The player likeness used in Madden is licensed, which is voluntary. Slavery is involuntary. If the athlete licenses his likeness for the game and is compensated, then where is the slavery? Treating a likeness like a property is correct because it is a property.

Reason number 76 why I'll never send my kids to public schools in Louisiana. They have dumbfricks willing to risk their livelihood by blasting students on local social media websites in charge of our kids' education.

Why would I ever trust you with my kid?

I doubt the kid's argument was centered around the actual players being forced to license their likeness. The paper was likely about how madden ultimate team is about buying and selling players as if they were property. Or that the growing acceptance of this style game could lead people to merely view players as pieces of property to be bought and sold at auction.

I'm not saying it's a good topic, but your characterization of his argument goes against what OP has told us.
This is all speculation because op won't post what was actually written and instead gives us a grossly limited and likely highly biased interpretation of what was actually written.

Fair enough
But based on what he told us about the paper the premise is flawed.

So the paper supporting the premise is flawed, therefore it is substandard work and deserves a lower grade

You aren’t buying and selling actual people, you are buying and selling their likeness, which is a property.

easy problem to solve. do they have a choice whether or not to play? and are they paid? if yes to both, then it's not slavery.

Let's say hypothetically that the game was a farming game.

And the biggest feature of the game was the ability to buy and sell workers (that you didn't have to pay for their labor in the game). Would it be a flawed premise to say "hey, this game is kinda like an animated simulation of slavery and I think that's wrong"?

I stray further and further away from my conservative views each time I try to talk to one of these nimrods. I have always been against liberalism, but Trump and people like the morons on the poliboard have me leaning more left every day.

Like in the game?

Because in that context, which in guessing is what the kid's argument was about, the answer to both of those questions is no.

except for the facts that:

2. their services are being purchased, not them
3. they are about to make a frickload of money
4. there's not one race of people there
5. how the hell else are they supposed to evaluate the talents of hundreds of people at one place and one time
6. it's 100% optional, they don't actually have to be there.

ok, i see what you mean. well, in that case the kid's point is even dumber because it's a fricking video game and they aren't real people.

The pro athletes are compensated for their likeness to appear in the game in their NFL contract
They do have a choice

This is why you don’t have player names in ncaa games, because of the ed o’bannon Lawsuit

If you trade a guy from your fantasy team are you a slave owner trading player slaves?
