i gonna go ahead and say. The only people that complain about what other people are wearing are people that find anything and everything to complain about. Probably the same people that complain when people leave at halftime

While I agree with you the workplace is much less formal and most folks won’t buy a suit if the never have to wear one.

Same goes for church, much less formal now days and I’d bet attendance has taken a sharp decline in recent years.

When my MIL passed away the “cousin Eddie” of the family showed up in white jeans, a white t-shirt (not a wife beater - to his credit) and tennis shoes knowing he was going to sit down front in the family section. Spent the entire post funeral going on and on about how good the food was.

Its a lack of a quality father figures in today's society. My father was no Versace by a long shot, but he taught my brothers and I how to dress appropriately for occasions and not be disrespectful to a host. Now you have grown men dressing like 5th graders.

A suit should be the best fitting garment made out of the highest quality fabric of anything one might own. If your suit is uncomfortable, you need to visit your tailor.

Now, I’ll certainly concede that a necktie isn’t particularly comfortable. But if societal trends towards the casual one day reverse and the expectation was a suit without a tie for a man to leave the house, I would have no issue with it whatsoever.

You do realize the insecure ones are the ones wearing suits, right? They are doing specifically because of what others will think of them.

The people not wearing suits are more in the "IDAF what others think of my attire, I'm going to show support."

, no.

The ones wearing jeans and a polo probably think dress clothes are gay.

ETA - and go take it a step further, why not wear shorts and a tank top if dress doesn't matter?

Suits are expensive and a lot of guys who don't need them for work have one for weddings and funerals, and then get too fat for it and don't have the money or time to go buy a new one.

This me. But I ended up buying one at The Purple Cow off Jones Creek Rd for $10.

My brother-in-law, a happy-go-lucky very personable pothead, was invited to a garden wedding at an upscale lakehouse with "casual" as the official dress code. He showed up wearing overall shorts, no shirt underneath, and flip-flops.

The bride's mother was appalled, everyone else knew that is just the way he rolls.

I’m pretty white trash and I still manage to wear a suit to weddings and funerals.

Not really offended by those who don’t though.

I worked with a trashy lady. She smoked 2 packs a day, constantly dropped F-bombs and didn't care who was within ear shot. Her son had a mullet. She was so delightfully white trash, and I loved her for it.

Her husband drove a pump truck for a living; the kind that pumps out grease traps and septic tanks. He also rocked a mullet as well as a huge diamond earring.

When I got married, of course she was invited. A few days before the wedding she asked if her husband could wear jeans, because "He doesn't own a suit, and hasn't worn one since our wedding."

"Of course he can," I replied. "Just make sure they're his good church jeans." I figured every wedding has at least one guy wearing jeans. Might as well be him.

The day of the wedding, I see him. His mullet is slicked back, he's wearing his best gold jewelry. And he's in a brand new suit.

"Chris," I said, "Looking good man. What happened to the jeans?" Apparently he was so excited to be invited to my wedding, he made his wife take him to Men's Warehouse because he didn't want to look like a slob.

Must be a narcissistic metrosexual thing. Like little girlies playing dress up. Suits have become unnecessary attire (except for a immediate family funeral or you are a lawyer)
