There are a ton of terrible shite posted on this thread, but

You have prolly posted the worst. Bad thing is I know you are knowledgeable when it comes to lifting.

Keto is nothing more than a tool, if you enjoy eating that away, do it.

It isn't magic just like fasting and Paleo and what ever the frick else diet that is out there.

You must be in a caloric deficit to lose bodyfat. If you eat 5000k Cal of fat, you arent going to be burning bodyfat as fuel and will simply use the dietary fat you have ingested for fuel.

All diets, once calories and protein are equated, but. The same amount of bodyfat, roughly.

Keto can be very good for your health if done correctly. Some people are ultra responders and should not be on keto. Keto is not eating globs of butter. That's fricking stupid.

Keto will not make you skinny fat if you are lifting. If you are lifting I highly suggest ketogains. Much better ratio for lifters.

If you chase ketones over results you are a retard. Ketones do nothing for body comp.

Keto has shown the ability to let people intuitively lower caloric intake without the traditional downgrade in non exercise activity thermogenesis.

Keto can affect performance.

Most positive health effects from any diet come from the actual fat loss.

TlDR: beachdude is a moron, like almost all others in this thread, keto only works if in a Caloric deficit. OP your dad is a fricking retard.

I know I will be attacked for the above as I am labeled a keto hater on the H&F board, even though I keto myself. God forbid I put the science out there and tell people they still have to eat in a deficit.

Vegans are God’s way of punishing Man for his sins on this world.

God, I hate vegans. Vegetarians are a close 2nd.

When I was a teen, my younger brother had a friend who would come hang out at our house. His mother had an eating disorder before anyone really knew what that was. She would lock the food up and basically starve her kids. When this thin as a rail kid came over, when no one was watching, he’d take bites out of the stick of butter we had in the kitchen. He never went for the salty snacks or sweets. His animal instincts realized the nutritional benefits of the butter.

Maybe OP’s dad is my ex-neighbor.

Do you have any proof otherwise? And I’m not talking about an article from Men’s Health Magazine or Wiki. Let’s see some scholarly articles that show proof that high fat/high cholesterol diets do not result in increased cardiac disease.

Bro, just keep eating the standard American diet that’s been recommended for the past 40 years if it means so much to you. The results of that are all around you. Good luck.

Yes, there's a shitload. You clearly don't care to learn though, so not much point.

What exactly do you think I linked to? You're just suck in the past. Enjoy your ignorance.

No thanks. I haven’t had fast food in years and try to keep the red meat and fried stuff to a minimum as well. Good luck to you too.

There are plenty of them. Here is one

LINK

The study analysised the effects of replacing calories with coconut oil(mct oil), olive oil or butter(plain butter not grass fed)

Both olive oil and the coconut oil showed positive effects on markers. Plain butter showed negative effects(most assume grass fed butter which has a much better fat profile, would sow positive effects)

But there was also a brand new meta analysis that showed coconut oil did raise LDL, but that is to be expected and of analysised by partical size we would see that it is not the "bad" ldl particles

There are dozens of others showing similar.

You don't seem very informed. A balanced fat profile diet with lots of Omega 3 with lots of protein and limited carbs is going to be the most healthy.

For instance a simple meal consisting of the following

10oz free range chicken breast brined and air fryer with a pat of grass fed butter on top

1 cucumber skinned and sliced with 10-15ml evoo or avocado oil

1/2 avocado

10-15 Spears of asparagus

This meal is going high fat compared to the standard American diet, are you going to tell me it's really unhealthy.

Those that do keto right do the following

8-12 oz high quality meat
Green veggies
Maybe a high quality fat like evoo

They aren't dipping stick of butter in God damn cheese, that's retarded.

Btw you fricking suck, you are making me defend keto!!

But for example my meals for yesterday looked like this

Meal 1-11 pm
5oz skirt steak
3 free range eggs

Meal 2-3:30
6 oz 93/7 ground turkey with 1/2 onion and 1/2 bellpepper diced and sauteed
~1/2 avocado

Meal 3- 630- dinner
8oz skirt steak with onions and bell peppers sauteed in a 10ml of evol
1/2 avocado

Postworkout- protein shake

Meal 4- 10pm pre bed meal
8 oz air fryer chicken breast(brined and fryed, no breading)
Cucumber with 15ml avocado oil

1 slice of Colby jack cheese(non processed) and a tbsp of Jack Miller BBQ on the chicken.

I run around 1800-2000 Cal's at 200-240g of protein and 85-100g of fat.

I suffer from high cholesterol since I got on TRT. No matter how much I lifted, ran or dieted I still had it. Keeping carbs limited has helped that a ton. Anecdotal, but still.

And you should, other than the red meat. The stigma around that has been debunked a million times. Find a high quality source locally and enjoy the many benifits of it.

Sugar, and everything that raises your blood sugar quickly, is linked with cancer cells forming more so than anything else.

Same with cholesterol. LDL is not bad. When SUGAR oxidizes LDL that’s when it becomes no bueno.

Red meat, per se,is not the problem. The problem is the type of red meat Americans typically eat.Grass fed beef is much healthier though not as flavorful or as tender as the feedlot beef that is typically eaten.Feedlots didn’t get started until about 1960 and cattle have been selectively bred to have fat marbled muscle.Cattle that go through feedlots reach slaughter weight at about 18 months, grass fed it takes until about 3 years of age. Therefore, meat is plentiful and relatively cheap but is not nearly as healthy, tastes good as I remember. We haven’t bought any beef in probably 15 years,we eat venison and occasional wild pig.I also order a little grass fed buffalo(expensive). We eat a little chicken and good bit of fish.
Huge problem with the American diet is the large amounts of processed carbs and sugar that is eaten.
