The justification of physical violence due to words only is escalating.

Woman on airplane attacks child who calls her fat
This started around the time of the BLM movement where calling someone the word could lead to a physical attack that some would claim was justified. And it has grown.
We do need a pic to show the level of fat.

Police say a woman was arrested at a Florida airport after she repeatedly hit a child on a plane. The arrest report says the incident happened after the child called her “fat” and “Miss Piggy.”
Kristy Lee Crampton, 46, was set to be back home from her family’s Disney World vacation. Instead, she made her first appearance Tuesday in front of a Seminole County judge, where she was granted a $10,000 bond.
Crampton was on board Allegiant Flight 2885 from Orlando-Sanford International Airport on Memorial Day. The flight was set to take off just before 2 p.m., but according to an arrest report, Crampton and witnesses on the plane tell police a child called Crampton “fat” and “Miss Piggy,” telling her she couldn’t fit in the airplane seat.
That’s when witnesses say Crampton began hitting the child with her fist and hit him on the head with a water bottle. She then “slammed” the child’s head into the airplane window, according to the arrest report. The child used his arms to cover his head.

I saw a video on Instagram from Slidell where a urban gentleman got out of his vehicle and popped off a few shots at a passing truck. The comments were full of people trying to justify it because maybe the dude had followed him and was he supposed to just drive away without a fight?

Oh good grief. I've seen hundreds of posts from good ole baws over the years saying things along the lines of "FAFO" and "back in my day, people didn't talk shite because they'd get popped in the mouth".
Folks have been glorifying violence due to words since the dawn of mankind. Until, of course, you don't agree with which side is the aggressor. Then it's time to clutch pearls.

That didn’t start with BLM. Calling a black person that has meant a fight since at least the 80s.

The 60s are calling. You’re at least 60 years late with this take.

Exactly. The people downvoting this are the pearl clutchers you spoke of

Grandpa: When I was in school, if two boys had a disagreement, we'd have a deep discussion about empathy and how we need to consider how our words and actions can affect others around us.
JK
They gave them boxing gloves and let them beat the shite out of each other.
And, personally, I think that was a fine approach.

A couple of lessons:
1. Don't become a blimp so you are not an embarrassment to yourself.
2. Raise your kids to not be rude so they don't get clobbered by blimps.
No sympathy for any of these people.
