Different categories of monster. This one had a lot of size to her.

There was a thread about this yesterday.
No matter what the situation is, if it involves telling a mass group of people that it is critical for them to do something specific, there will always be a certain percentage of people who will not do it.
It reminds me of something a local politician once told me. Anyone who runs for office should expect to have at least 25-30% of the votes go to the other person. It could be Jesus Christ running for mayor in a city full of Christians and there will be that certain group of people, who has a certain mindset that they will justify to themselves why they shouldn't vote for him (just an example, not trying to get into a religious debate or something).
That's just the ways it is.

You hold out for this one knowing that you are in the path, then first responders shouldn't have to help you.

I think the size of the hurricane plus the amount of rain still makes it a monster

If his house there made it through Hugo, he’ll probably be fine.

Scruffy’s point is, isn’t it problematic to call every storm a “monster storm”?
Is it really a “monster storm”?
It's only a "monster" storm if it's hitting the East coast. They can't be seen to be damaged by the same things as the poor pathetic South, so they come up with shite like "Super Storm", or "Monster Storm" to make it seem like what they face is FAR more devastating than any measly hurricane. Sandy just destroyed a bunch of towns? Couldn't have been just a simple hurricane then, hurricanes are for the poors. For anything to affect Yankees, it had to have been a Superstorm.

South Carolina isn't the South?

There were quite a few people who stayed in Pass Christian for Katrina because their homes didn't flood in Camille. The ones who lived probably won't make that mistake again.
