That hurt my feelers.
I'm no coonass but I'll own it though.

This, along with the injuries sustained, is why stores don't chase thieves anymore
I hate shoplifters. Wife works in retail management. Nike shoes arrive in the truck and are gone with two days - with 50% or more being stolen. Store's policy is don't do anything to the shoplifters.
I think her employer is contributing to the downward decline of our society by not doing anything to shoplifters. It also generates comments from their paying customers that the customer base is getting far more trashy.

just a tangent, but I have been to Hong Kong over 50 times and still go regularly, and any country that drives on the left can get fricked. Driving as well as crossing the road is always worrying. Even worse when you cross the land border from Shenzhen , China so you are going from a normal country that drives on the right to that british bullshite.

It absolutely violates fire code. Can't have an exit door locked from the inside during business hours.

I’ve always thought this as well, but I don’t understand how it can possibly be this widespread if so.
Like.. has nobody from the Fire Marshal’s office ever walked into a Circle K? Because you’d think they would be collecting fines left and right.
It annoys the frick out of me having to do the little dance at the door every time there’s someone coming the other way. I’m with OP on this.

Unlocking both doors would make locking the doors take much longer. I have no idea but that would be another possible reason.

It's way easier for the store to buy $50 of new tapes and add $1/ea to rentals to cover the cost of shrinkage than defend a Morris Bart type lawsuit each week.
Yeah, but is it funny?

It’s 100% a fire code violation.

when I identify one of those places I'll return with my own "please use other door <--" sign and place it on the unlocked one.

Who downvoted this? Ive seen way too many BS lawsuits get settled because it is cheaper. What happens is the premiums go up and the customers get to pay for it

Agree. I don't love how this works, I don't advocate for it, but if rentals go up $1/day to cover shrinkage veruss $5/day to cover the lawsuits from one bozo kicking another...

I am pretty sure this is getting closer to reality.
