Probably has to do with the bellcurve phenomenon. Women populate the peak of the curve at a higher consistency than men.

As I age, it is becoming obvious women control everything, and are the stronger part of our species.

Data shows that men drive a lot more than women. More driving equals more time to get in wrecks

quote:

That means men drive about 30 percent more miles than women. Yet, they’re implicated in slightly less than 30 percent of car accidents. Men do cause more accidents, but they are actually less at-risk than women

What data do you think would point to such a thing? Fed interest rates?

Cool your tits, just wanted to make sure what exactly the basis you were working off of first.

Men are responsible for roughly 38% more wrecks than women are per year. (6.1M vs 4.4M)

Men however drive on average 63% more miles than women do each year (16550 vs 10142). So, does that data actually mean men are worse drivers?

And most of those accidents are caused by women cruising in the passing lane. Probably.

Maybe women are just worse than men at understanding statistics.

This article let's me know that there's still one thing that women aren't better at than men -- using statistics.

Yep. I'm not sure how that site calculated their mileage increase though. 16550 miles per year vs 10142 is not 30% more miles

ETA: Oh I get it, they are averaging it out by total drivers as about 1 million more women have their license.

The greatest drivers can't control the other idiots on the road

But let's argue some more!

A few big things for which that data needs to account:

Number of miles/hours driven each day - it's a reasonable guess that men are far more likely to have jobs requiring driving long distances or more often than women (truck drivers, delivery vehicles, farming equipment, etc.). Tough to get into a serious accident whenever you're toting the kids from school to home to the soccer field and back when compared to a cross country driver that's been on the road for 8+ hours.

Age range - teen drivers are worse than adults, with male teens likely being worse than females.

Overall number of drivers of each sex - do more men drive than women?

Testosterone will likely "make" men take more risks while driving, perhaps being more prone to speeding which increases all sorts of things when it comes to accidents.

Edit to add:
Similar variables should be taken into account when it comes the surgery stat spouted, with surgical specialty being the number one. And, even within the same specialty, you can bet that a male surgeon would take on riskier cases than a female (because of confidence and ego (testosterone), which would increase mortality post-surgery.

Safer, maybe. “Skilled,” no.

Just got moved to a Plano route starting June 1 though. Less fricking driving.
