I feel ya. Im on my 3rd dishwasher since the 2016 flood. That includes the new one in 2016. I spent time and money working on them also.

The new LG stuff has a pretty good track record, even the high tech stuff. It isn't cheap, but by reputation they are very reliable among the modern W/D.
When my last one went out (called a guy and he said it would be more expensive to fix that just buying a new one) he told me to buy the cheapest LG direct drive washer they made. FWIW

I just took out a friend's Samsung dishwasher. At 3 years old it wouldn't work because the electronics "detected a leak". His high tech 4 year old Samsung gas range recently went out..again due to electronic crap.
Part of the reason boomers acquired wealth is because they bought an appliance once and it lasted the rest of thier lives. People tolerate overpriced crap that breaks down quickly.

Boomers also enacted regulations and laws due to climate change, which has destroyed appliances, cars, etc.

We replaced our 16 year old Kenmore washer and dryer with Speed Queen
4 months ago and my wife couldn’t be happier.

No long term options? Not true.
The commercial grad whirlpools and Maytags are pretty good and better built. You can get them at HD and Lowe's. Always Speed Queen as well

Does the group who follows US economic policy and regulatory news and the one that can fix appliances overlap much?

Mine had a similar issue and I replaced the springed hangers that held the tub up. The real key to a long term fix is to get some dampening grease and put a lot of it on the new hangers. They come with some on them but not nearly enough. About an $80 fix and haven’t had an issue once I figured out it was the extra grease that was needed.

20+ year old model and I read they can break or crack during this.
I can only imagine the way you smell irl
Old may tag washers were the best. You want to fix them if you can.

Is that a weird arse garbage can like you would see at a fast food place?

My wife has GE Profile Select. She’s had it two years and likes it.

Top-loading.
I read a ton of reviews on it and the GE/Whirlpool/etc. options at the same price level all had the same issues but were louder and seemed to break more.

Yes. They are so simple to fix.

Also, I did Identify the issue correctly and fix it, but when putting it back together I broke some plastic part, I believe.
I simply don't wish to chase gremlins and clean up more water and waste another morning. And that was me going rogue. The wife is fully on team new washer

You voted for John Kerry.
