Does anyone know if Antioch Road is open all the way to Highway 73, and if 73 is open all the way to the back of the Walmart in Prairieville? Thank you for any info.

The way I see it is that the Spanish Lake Swamp is likely filling up from the road over topping at alligator bayou. Once the swamp is full, you will see the water start to rise again along Bayou Manchac (Santa Maria). The hope now is that the Amite will fall before the Spanish lake swamp reaches capacity.

I watched these areas since roughly 3 pm yesterday. Night and day. It is my opinion, that at Siegen/Burbank/Highland intersection is receding. You can see water lines on White pipe going across bayou.

No problem. Can you tell me more about the exact area you're interested in off of Pondarosa

He's probably still interested on that side by the Mobil station..

I'm interested on the side by Florida.

So are y'all saying Santa Maria isn't in the clear just yet based off of flow rate and faulty Gage's? Not being a dick just worried about my grandparents who think they are safe now.

There are no experts here so your grandparents should stay vigilant regardless.

I don't think the Bayou Manchac gages upstream are faulty, we're just suggesting that they don't really jive with reports of water going down in Santa Maria. Perhaps it is draining there now and that will soon reflect on the gages upstream, but they're so close that you'd think that would already be visible.

The other thing worth mentioning is that if the back flow will increase until there is equilibrium between the two bodies of water, there could still be quite a while to go - like 2 feet perhaps.

We saw crests last night on Jones Creek and Clay Cut Bayou that were mostly in line with the level of the Amite River near the mouth of those waterways, or at least what we could expect the water height to be on gages that are relatively close to the Amite.

For what is likely a litany of reasons, we haven't seen that on Bayou Manchac. The crest at the mouth was 21.5 feet, or was supposed to be, yet the Kleinpeter gages are still under 12 feet. Muddy Creek, which flows into Bayou Manchac, is above 20 feet.

There are some logically inconsistent field reports and gage reports going around.

I'm hearing very conflicting reports on Santa Maria. Some say the water is falling and others say it is rising again.

We are in the front of the neighborhood where the water would have to come up another 5' for us to be in danger. Should we get worried?

Looking at the google map image of the Comite Diversion canal....which has been planned for 30 years. It was supposed to stretch between the Mississippi River to the Comite River and pass between Zachary and Baker (dug from west to east).

30 years and they haven't even gotten to Highway 61 yet.

Got myself and my car out early thanks to supernovasky's backflow charts

Damn I have seen a bunch of people saying stuff like this in the thread, supernovasky is THE MAN! I mean the dude saved your car from being destroyed and kept you from being stuck, hopefully you also were able to bring along a few items that couldn't be replaced. I feel horrible for all of you guys but it is so cool that he was able to make not as bad as it could have been. I know must of you face a long and expensive road but when things are back to normal and you guys get back on your feet I would hope you all remember how much he helped and do something cool for him when you are able to. I know he wasn't helping because he wanted anything out of it but if someone saved my arse, like I have heard stories of him saving peoples asses in here, I would for sure do something big to thank them and also let them know if they ever needed anything they better call me first!

I'm real interested to see the full story of how this happened with Spanish lake and alligator bayou. Did we not know that area was lower than most of bayou fountain?

Thank you everyone for all the updates and info.

Can anyone update on what's going on in U-Club? Our house is in the back road closest to Bayou Paul and last pictures I saw the water wasn't far.

Correct. We are trying to get to one of the townhouses on ponderosa across from Mobil.
