For those interested in Springlake/Fairhill I just drove round and went to areas predicted to take on water first. Fairhill remains dry everywhere. Main lake still 2-3 feet from people's yards.
Water has NOT overrun main drag on Bluebonnet, as you pass 1st lake coming from the north (Burbank). Still has a foot or so to go.
Backwater flooding behind Wal-Mart.
So basically...Springlake still good as of 12:15 and areas around Burbank\Bluebonnet that are in water don't surprise me. Drainage there sucks and it is among lowest spots in area.
Flood maps true to form so far from what I can tell.

Which is even worse because they supposedly invest a lot of research into where these switching centers go. And the fact that they're still having issues 3 days later is even more ridiculous. Again, they're the only carrier having issues right now and they're the biggest and needed the most. It's not a good situation for them.
I switched to Verizon from AT&T after dealing with this in the past hurricanes, most notably Katrina. Verizon seems to be much more reliable in these situations.

Yes sir that's the plan as of now.
Expecting traffic, but that's ok

X marks the spot for active rising water.
Gardere area apparently under potential emergency soon? Can anyone verify that?

Water here in Keystone looks to have stopped rising (might be rising 1/4" at most right now). Just hoping we don't get too much back flow.
Tons of people being evacuated by boat.
Still pretty optimistic about Keystone right now. Just have to wait and see

Chest deep water in streets of Santa not in many people by us homes though we're in no danger
Yep my parents are there, but they're on the high end of Santa Maria, so the water won't quite make it up the street to them. Just a waiting game to see how long it takes to drain out.

Think we need a separate flood thread with ascension flooding. Getting hard to keep up with it

Why would gardere be threatened before Springlake?

I just left the Fairhill area, checking on a house on Hillridge. Everything is dry. People are riding bikes and walking strollers like a normal day. I saw a few freshly cut lawns too (wtf).
I drove from Burbank/Lee with no issues.
There are cars blocked from getting into the road by Lakeside Bar, Westhaven, and the big apartment complex

doesn't look to be falling in the pictures I have seen by my neighbor vick
seems stationary. if you look are google maps there is a waterway that flows to gardere from bayou fountain. is this an underground storm drain now since all the new construction?

Bayou Manchac certainly not receding any over the interstate. Crazy to see it that high, looks like they forgot to build a bridge.

quote:Things are so dynamic with this type of flow, it's tough to make sense of it. I told people that the backwater can still rise even after the Amite crests @ Manchac, because there are still points upstream that are lower. But hopefully things are working towards equalizing and then we'll see everything starting to go down soon.
So Ward Creek rising, Fountain rising at Highland and Siegen and Burbank/Bluebonnet, Gardere rising, but fountain not rising at Win Dixie. Sounds like perhaps the Highland/Segen/bluebonnet and Gardere area is where spillover is occuring into the surrounding land in that case.

I'm just down the road toward Jd Broussard from that hairpin turn on Babin too, but that bridge washes out regularly with any heavy rain. Maybe I should start watching it.

set TV to WBRZ they have boat crew heading to burbank/gardere area as advised by authorities.
Now maybe they are needing help on S. Kennilworth Parkway (behind lakeside daquris) which people have been needing boat rescues since yesterday.
