Nurse I'm so glad to hear about your parents having flood insurance. I know you have told us about your parents many times.

How did y'all make out last night? Your parents?

quote:The latest reading on the gauge showed it jumping up to 48.6ft after being at 35.52 damn near all day. Physically, that elevation doesn't really seem to make sense. However, there is more water in the road in the area of Broadmoor that Is close to it than there was earlier today (just ran by about 15mins ago).
do you have a latest projection about the jones creek/old hammond gauge?

it's all clear. Drove by there today[/quote]
Thanks Capper

it jumped to 49 earlier today and then jumped back down. i think anything jumping that high over 35 is some sort of reading error.

They do not have flood insurance. At least that is what my dad told me yesterday.

Dude, because of you I relayed information to at least 5 different families and I made them get out of their neighborhood to save their cars. You at the very least saved like 9 vehicles from being totaled because all of those cars would be under water at the moment.
I can't thank you and the other person in last nights thread for everything you predicted. I now have my mom calling me every half hour wanting me to check river levels and elevations of her friends houses.

Did you happen to go south of the creek through that neighborhood between sharp and Sherwood?
Any insight into how much water and if houses are flooding?

Have they heard if they flooded yet?

No, no TD alters. I've dropped in around here from time to time though.
For whatever e-cred you lost with the "Les Miles is going to be fired" saga, you've totally redeemed yourself in this thread.

Is the expectation that Wards Creek will start to back up as well as the night progresses?

A couple behind me in line at the store was saying that they went from dry to feet of water in their home within 30 minutes in Denham and almost didn't get it in time. Crazy how unpredictable something like this can be.

As of earlier the water was creeping up but not too fast and not in our houses yet
Tonight will see if I have a home to come home to

The Great Flood of 2016: Backflow Flooding Occuring (8/14/16)

Water can be seen over barrier on burbank right before Highland
Man, that is so high. I've been there many times.
That + this graph:
Makes me feel very comfortable saying Bayou Fountain has a ways to go.
So this is what we are looking at:
Red X is where the Bayou Manchac is still rising, leading to backflow at the point of the blue X. As someone who lives next to this spot, I can say that this is significantly high water for the area. Bluebonnet and Highland, BB and Burbank are probably next.
Meanwhile:
The Manchac river is getting so damn high. Compare to 4 hours ago:
