This sucks - my wife and I were about to move out of the state to Colorado - she just got a job there. Our house is high and dry but this is probably going to wreck the market.
I would move ASAP and if it is a higher end home I would do a 6-12 month lease for 2x-2.5x what it would normally go for and if it is just an average home I would put it on sites like Air BnB where you will EASILY get $200+ a night. Then in 6-12 months or so you could put it up for sale if the market is in a place you like, if not just keep renting for another year or two as rentals should be higher than average for at least that long. If you aren't dependent on the equity from your home to move you may actually end up in a better situation. Good luck either way, you deserve it for all of the help you have given people in here!

I-10 west will probably closed tomorrow. It was closed around 2 pm. Maybe you should see how long it takes the water to stop rising there. It will probably take that amount of time from the peak level to fall to where it could be opened again.
I have no experience in this, but my guess is that it will definitely be closed tomorrow and probably closed Tuesday.
But no one really knows because the water is still rising there

I just want to check in and say that y'all are saying a lot about your community, your character to help others, and the whole state of LA. You've been faced with multiple challenges recently and you're showing that y'all are good folk. My prayers are with you.
For as many idiots as there are in Baton Rouge, there are as many good people of all races and creeds.
That idiots from Missouri and other places that came and tried to tear us apart further, made most of us bond closer together.
BR is a very tight knit community

Just an FYI for anyone traveling west on i10 tying to go through Baton Rouge. Took the sunshine bridge from prairieville. Hwy 70 to hwy 69. Then la 1 back to i10 in port Allen. Took two hours to get from prairieville to breaux bridge.

Is Bluebonnet fine all the way from Perkins to Celtic? I may need to go pick up a stranded co-worker?

Just drove Burbank from university villas to Siegen/highland.
Burbank at the curve westbound is flooding. One full lane flooded and part of second lane. It is barricaded at the light but cars are driving right through them. Water is right at bridge elevation. Any higher and bridge is flooded.

Hwy 42 has the high water sign up before les Chenier. Still passable even in a car. I didn't attempt to go down McCrory and les Chenier to get to my house. Figured I didn't need a truck and house flooded.

Do you think UClub area will see a lot of water with Manchac backflow? You seem pretty concerned at rate of rise over I-10. Have family and am trying to give them sound advice thank you
