We have friends renting in summer wood, as of yesterday they said they were high and dry. Checked in this morning but they're not responding, likely due to AT&T being down.

Yeah- our kids go to school at Runnels. It doesn't look good for the school year, and I'm concerned about the school surviving this period. Sad.

Is the Comite currently back flowing?

Monticello is completely underwater and the Comite flood stage is only 4' above the 1983 flood and only a handful of houses took water back then.

Your parents off E Achord? I think Rolling Wood Drive? If so, you are who I think. And I've been worried for y'all!

East Baton Rouge Parish public works or engineer should be all over this. Whoever handles the drainage in the parish (is it outsourced to a private firm?) should be telling people about this backflow situation.

The local media has been talking about this inevitability since yesterday.

Just got the the 42/Joe Serverio intersection in Prairieville... 42 is blocked there and there's people walking up 42 with bags packed. Couldn't see water, but it's apparently getting worse for Ascension

I have friends who live there. I don't know the name of their street. They evacuated yesterday. They had to be taken out by boat.

I saw a couple of pics posted on FB from when they left. The lake behind their house had come up over their swimming pool and was at their back door. Water from the street was at their front door. I think the pics were taken mid/late morning or very early afternoon. Hope this info helps

It does. I am going to ride out to my parents house, providing I can get there, later this morning.

Yea I graduated from Runnels... that school means a lot to me... I hope that it can come back strong, but it's killing me to know it's basically game over there

Summerwood is high and dry as of now. So is Bluebonnet and related neighborhoods south of Highland. At Burbank/Highland, water has overtaken one lane on Burbank at the curve where the old model airplane field used to be. Bayou Fountain at the bridge there is almost at road level.

I'm going to ride out to Walker @ I-12 and give a report.

I heard water rose fast last night and flooded the west side of Walker Road.

I streamed WAFB for most of yesterday afternoon and heard nothing. And asked some folks on here last night if there was talk of it, and they said no. So even if they've mentioned it a couple times, it obviously hasn't resonated.
