fricking great idea. Let's take a major travel artery in a town full of gridlock and traffic and make it slower.

Government was always to narrow for the traffic .. the major artery is Florida

They were both major arteries and the lanes were plenty wide enough. The only issue was the lack of a turning lane.

I think the people that wanted it need to have BRPD block the roads 3 am, every Saturday morning rain or shine, and they need to be out there maintaining the medians.

Let the business association and civic association who pushed this through take care of it.

But thus is no surprise, DPW died very little to clean and maintain parish roads. If you can’t run a lawn mower over it then it ring be maintained, and if the little old lady with her Tiger Town clean up brigade doesn’t come by it won’t get cleaned up,

And uh, what part of this surprises anyone who knows Baton Rouge?

When you look at the rest of the city, does it look like a place that maintains stuff, takes pride in itself, or cares?

Which is is why it’s to narrow and can’t be an artery when it’s residential off every block

Im sure the majority of those against the road diet do not live in Mid City and are pissed that they have to take Florida to their DR Horton meth village in the LP.

The beds near Goodwood were recently redone. The others look like crap. I’ve been waiting for the various neighborhood associations or Mid City Merchants to step in. Not that they should have to but the city-parish admin won’t get it done.

People that lived outside the parish weren’t the people using Government Street.

I see those big arse Broome landscaping trucks all over town. Surely the Mayor can get them an overpriced "family" contract to pill some weeds and make a few hundred thousand.. I mean she has police cars sitting outside of Boil and Roux to try to control the Charger crowd at her other family members business.

If it lets even one hipster pretend they live in a vibrant community, wasn't it worth it?

One thing about them is, they are consistent with their dogma. They'll never admit that this was a frick up. Sad thing is, the cracks in this are only just beginning to show.

I have no problem with road diet.
They just designed it which makes it hard for delivery trucks to turn and have flower beds that are hard to maintain.

I thought the traffic circle was going to be a disaster, but traffic gets through it much better than before

The traffic circle at Government and Lobdell is a massive improvement for that intersection. Anyone who says otherwise is an idiot or a liar.
