Basically, what you are saying is what would become the 5th largest city overnight, that is majority white and one of the richest areas of the state would not be able to afford the cost of running a city. Also, these same people probably would not be willing to pay more money or taxes to fund such government. You are now claiming this "Balkanization" of Baton Rouge, which has already occurred, is not good form of government.

I'll say this, if 100,000+ tax paying citizens decide that they want to form their own city and fund their own school system and government I will applaud their effort. It will be a full slap in the face to the old guard in Baton Rouge.

That will be interesting to see what develops. If it proves to be a systemic problem, the fit will hit the shan. If it proves to be an isolated case or two, it will be a tempest in a teapot.

I've posted enough personal information about my family on here.

But I will address your curiosity about my politics. I have NO political pull. I don't even belong to a political party. Never have, never will.

The only politician I've ever donated money to for his campaign was Smokie Bourgeois and that was one time and only after John Delgado announced he was running against Smokie for CP Councilman. I judged Delgado to be a slime and he has proven me to be correct.

Smokie is not the brightest bulb in the chandelier but I found him to be truthful with me and he worked with me on a problem I was having when DPW was encroaching onto my property without there being a servitude. I could not get anyone in the upper echelons of DPW to even return my phone calls and Smokie made that happen.....with a quickness. And that was years BEFORE I ever contributed to his campaign.

Plus, Smokie is not a frickin' lawyer. Smokie lost anyway. And now we have Delgado acting like a fool making matters worse.

So that is the full extent of my political pull.

SG can afford a city. But it will take tax increases to do it. Their leaders are denying that it will.

Actually I did graduate from LSU. I have multiple degrees from there. I'm not trying to secure my credibility at all.

I do find it funny that you didn't read my whole paragraph and chose the to read only the first sentence. I included your increase in tax statement as well.

You see you went all per capita basis on us awhile ago but you really don't understand the economics of the situation. Honstely, I don't understand it either because I don't know all the variables.

What I do know is this, people in Baton Rouge are scared. High crime rates and poor schools aren't exactly independent of each other. People want a way out. They tried to do it one way and were told this was their only alternative. They will get the 18,000 signatures around May of this year. I'm not sure of when the vote will occur but it will pass by about at 60-66% vote and there will be a new city. After all the racebaiting and national news subsides, the people of St. George will be emboldened and will try to run a city free of corruption and good ole boy deals. I can promise you they won't be scared of a few more taxes either.

Again, looking over the district you are in most of it is in the City of Baton Rouge. That means there is a slim to none chance you live in the proposed St George District.

I live in the proposed area Eastside Fire District, have signed the petition, and can vote yes or no if it goes to an election.

Most of the people against it don't live in the area so .

Kind of like the kids without money sitting out front the candy store looking in the window. If you don't have money you cannot buy the candy, so you cannot tell me what candy to buy!
