BRPD, BRFD both whining about losing money and talking about how good of a city BR is, yet the BRPD chief and the Union Presidents of both agencies live outside of Baton Rouge. Chief- Prairieville, BRPD Union - Denham Springs, BRFD Union - Central. Come to think of it, the BRFD fire chief lives in either baker or zachary. Do you blame them?

Then he really does not have skin in the game!
I have property in both the city Red Oaks and Eastside fire district. Only one gets Homestead exemption, so I will get hard with taxes either way.
Presenlty, I am registered to vote in the Eastside fire district.
Just rather try something than sit by and do nothing.
Will it hurt in the beginning, yes.
At the end of the day I believe both areas will benefit. Baton Rouge will have to tighten its budget running more efficiently. St George will have a change to keep the middle class families in the Parish.

If you live south of Florida and either East Side of St. George is your Fire Dept (and EBRSO is law enforcement), then you are in.

Im no authority on the subject, but the Legislature's reasoning for axing the two prior attempts to create an independent school district were because, and I quote, "Central, Baker and Zachary were able to do so because they all incorporated, which is what would have to be done"

It will be hard for the legislature not to pass it for other districts and not St George.
Right now it is a pissing contest of assumptions from a guy that does not even have a chance to vote for it.
Guess what I can lose 25lbs tonight and nail a supermodel. It probably won't happen, but we can all assume since heck is freezing over if ST George becomes a city according to people that do not live in the area.

Bodi White was quoted in the paper two weeks ago that even if SG incorporates he does not think the 2/3 votes are there to put the new district proposal to a statewide vote for a constitutional amendment like Central, Zachary & Baker had to get passed.
He also said the SG organizers are exploring if it can be done without a constitutional amendment.
An experienced La constitutional lawyer was quoted in the same article saying the La constitution has to be amended to create and fund a new school district.
That's all I know about that.

A lie. It's the same lie the organizers of Central told their citizens. After the incorporation of Central taxes were raised.

Ill pay higher taxes for a good school system (IE Central) as opposed to nearly the same tax + private school tuition so my kid doesn't get knifed.
