Christianity has moved in geographical base throughout time. It is currently in transition between the West and Asia. Christianity is growing very rapidly in Asia right now. If you look at world prosperity, it typically follows Christianity as well. It’s not going anywhere globally despite local, personal anecdotal evidence to the contrary.

I think about it from this perspective.

What's more likely...

A) In the absence of modern science, humans made up stories to try to explain the world.

B) An all knowing and powerful god decided he wanted to create a gigantic universe and within this universe, make a teeny tiny speck of dust called Earth. After a few billion years he decided to put humans on this planet to live a few decades, die, then depending how much praise they gave this god they are sent to the fiery pits of hell or got to live in eternal happiness in heaven.

What's more likely?

At this point religion in BR is a social club based on schools and popularity.

Sounds like you are claiming to have knowledge of what exists in every persons heart?

Everyone has something missing in them, and they fill it with all kinds of stuff. Some people fill it with their relationship with God, and are only satisfied with Him in their lives, which is why I said it will never be wiped out.

They do go to hell and there are plenty of people who call themselves Christians who really are not saved that go to Hell too. The Bible teaches about false religions.

So God judges people based on religion now? Is Ghandi burning in Hell? What about Jesus, he was a Jew!

Religion doesn’t matter. If you live a good life and minimize sin, you end up in Heaven. If you live a shitty life and commit a lot of sins, you go to Hell.

If you stand on a corner and tell people if they aren’t Christians then they’re going to Hell, then you’re probably the one that’s going to Hell

Religion is how the world was explained before science came along.

You really expect me to believe that a man lived inside of a whale for a week?

This was your original statement I was inquiring about.
quote:

No amount of technology has been able to fill the void in man’s heart that God and faith fills

And your reply...
quote:

Everyone has something missing in them, and they fill it with all kinds of stuff. Some people fill it with their relationship with God,

It would seem as though your thoughts have already evolved from a void that only God and faith can fill to something missing in us all that some people fill with God. While I am happy if that is what fills your void and would never admonish you for that choice, you are simply repeating what your religion has taught you to believe which is known as the "God Shaped Hole" teaching of Christianity.
Psalm 81:10
"I, the LORD, am your God, Who brought you up from the land of Egypt; Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.
Job 15:31
"Let him not trust in emptiness, deceiving himself; For emptiness will be his reward.
John 7:37-38
37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”

My point being is you are only reiterating hat you were taught to believe is true. My counter argument is that NO, not everyone walks through life with a void that must be filled and for those that do, God is NOT the only option for filling it. To believe that our existence can only be fulfilled by outside forces is rather naive. The broader view is that our lives can be as meaningful, fulfilled and wonderful as we choose to make it. Our minds are the most powerful tools we possess. Instead of setting limits with the belief that our questions are answered by religion and we are fulfilled by accepting a supernatural power, unleash our greater potential with an unrelenting thirst for greater knowledge. When you plant the seeds of wonder and nourish that thirst for knowledge you have created a strong mind. A strong mind does not need any invisible means of support or fulfillment.

Will be around as long as it can be used as a tool. If not for religion many people would have become angry, had more personal development, and became “doers.”

It’s impossible to think rationally and accept all things are why they are because of what’s on the surface. People tend to get caught up believing in miracles and their predicaments being controlled by someone other than themselves

Really? So to define "Free will" we will say it is the ability to make your own choice on a decision or course of action. Sound about right? So I would say it is a very safe assumption that the victims would have had the "will" to not die, be tortured or raped. So then you are telling me the "free will" of the wicked supersedes that of the victim? Wait, wait, I hear it coming...blah, blah, blah "works in mysterious ways". So naive. You know if I had the ability to stop an innocent child from being raped...I would! And just like that...I am more moral than your "God"
