Relax, fellas. In my realistic, politically doable scenario, both stay open
Actually Laffy is probably a much nicer place to live than BR
I won't go into why

You are forgetting the 68,000 in Bossier City.
East Baton Rouge, Jefferson, and Orleans parishes are all more populated than the entire Shreveport metro area?
I am not saying LSU-S should be shut down, but it is clearly the most vulnerable institution between itself, ULM, and Tech. Isn't Shreveport about an hour from Louisiana Tech?

Probably not, but I think that is the best option for both the state and students
I'm with you. I think SELU provides great programs.
LSU-BR and the politicians that suck them off will never allow competition when it comes to engineering. Look at how they try/tried to frick over ULL with computer science.

if you're willing to leave Shreve w/o a public U,
You would still have BPCC. LSUS is also a commuter school with less than 20% of the students ULL has.
You would also need extensive on-campus projects at McNeese to even begin to absorb the number of new students. ULL already has the majority of the infrastructure in place.

You seem triggered by Cajuns fans on the MSB
I'm also in favor of the USL name

Bossier has BPCC
Tech is an hour away as long as Troop G aren't assholes.

I actually prefer The University of Acadiana.

UL is still much larger than SELU and Lafayette is much larger then Hammond. UL also has strong STEM programs which we need more of, not less.
UL-Lafayette is definitely one of the handful of public universities that shouldn't be closed or scaled down.

I could live with that

Lafayette is one of maybe three areas in this state with actual promise

I graduated from the College of Business at SELU, and it is a great college. I have had friends that have graduated from the Nursing School, and they enjoyed it and were able to get really nice jobs.
My wife graduated with a BS from UNO, and an MHS from LSUHSC, and is ABD from UNO in a PhD program. She has said several times that her time there was great, but the school sucked.

I actually like the idea of changing it to University of Acadiana. That sounds awesome IMO. A lot of people prefer USL.

Our babysitter is in nursing at LSUHSC...she wishes she could go to SELU, but it isn't feasible for her.

I think you protect LSU, ULL, and LaTech and then decided to keep two or three of the remaining to stay four year institutions. Then pick four of those left over to be two year colleges or satellite campuses. Every name left on the table at that point gets shut down.

I would say keep Southeastern, make Nicholls a Junior College and combine Grambling with Southern.
No governor will touch it though, it would be political career suicide.
