So it added 3 parishes to overtake S/BC. Ok. Congrats.

It's really not significant enough distinguish its exact location.

It just provides higher education to some of the wealthiest parishes in the state.

Agree, but the Pharm program needs to be moved to Tech.

Southeastern

Should not be closed, because of the Nursing program and Business School.

Others that should be closed:

Grambling
McNeese/ULL (Either/Or)
UNO

The only schools that should be kept open are:

LSU-BR
SU-BR
SELU
ULL/McNeese
LA Tech

McNeese has an enrollment slightly above 7,000 in a much smaller area compared to a city twice the size with nearly triple the enrollment. Your argument makes no sense unless you're making it because of mean Cajuns fans on an internet message board.

ULL it looks like. SELA is 4th on the list in the state.

I mean, I understand that SUNO is an underperforming college that is not graduating a large percentage of its students. If it's a failing university and a black hole for funding, no pun intended, then close up shop. The other colleges on the list are regional universities that perform well and are needed. Not everyone can drop their entire life and stop working to move out of town for school. That's how these huge students debts are built. There's nothing wrong with getting a degree from any of these other fine universities.

I don't know if Niche is the best source since most of their info comes from users that self report data.

I think Southeastern and SUNO should be sacrificed for UNO.

SUNO and UNO for sure should be combined.

Southeastern I think could stand alone.

LSU should also be closed as it is no longer a university. It is more of a lobbying group that try's to stick its nose in local and state politics.
If tops was gone today would the university have to make drastic cuts? If so they should no longer exist.

No public university because both severely underperform. If they want to go to college, then you either go private, or you go to SELU. Don't think that is too much to ask. And let's be real...no one wants to actually live in NO now anyway.

I don't see Southwestern Louisiana Institute on that list...

I'm trying to be as impartial as possible. I've never set foot in N LA, but I disagree w/closing everything but Tech

If you can argue in favor of closing LSUS, then closing ULL is also a reasonable choice

And this is all for the Ultra-Draconian hypothetical, which is about as likely to happen as me marrying Alexandra Daddario

Blame the students and not the shite management of them seems to be the theme of this thread.

I honestly think it should close as well, but good luck with that. Closing the entire SU system will never happen, unless they become insolvent to the point that the state cannot help keep it afloat anymore.

There's an argument to be made that the state shouldn't fund higher education at all, but I'm not going that far.
