I'll consider that next time a deer commits suicide by my car. Although I sincerely hope it never happens again because it was scary. And I'm extremely lucky I wasn't hurt. I have some serious guardian angels.

I'm sure it's just like any other over the counter stuff you get. Everyone has their preference though. I'm a Dayquil/Nyquil kinda gal myself(but that is just my own personal preference and not a "nursing" preference).
Hope you feel better. Remember....just because you have "flu-like" symptoms, doesn't necessarily mean you have the flu. Respiratory season is starting and there are sooo many different respiratory viruses that have symptoms similar to the flu.

Senior citizens, very rarely.
Children? Their exposure would be at school.

Had my shot a week or two ago. Haven't had flu since pig flu got me back in aught nine. It really didn't make me that sick. I probably accidentally spread it around to the gym all week unknowingly.

Yeah Tamiflu requires a script. But it's as easy as walking into urgent care, telling them you have flu symptoms, getting swabbed and if positive, you're on your way to pharmacy with script 5 minutes later.

I had a kid about 3.5 years ago, so not super close but not far. It was now or never...it gets way too easy as they get to be this age and the idea of another infant was getting less and less appealing. Anyway, thank you. It's a girl. I'm equal parts thrilled and terrified
Oh.. For some reason I thought you were recently on maternity leave or something... I don't know, maybe I read something you posted, wrong..

If this flu season is anything like last year....YOU WANT A FLU SHOT.
I don't work on the adult floors in the hospital...but I had talked with other nurses that did work on those floors. Last year they had several normally healthy adults (30s-40s)with the flu that ended up in the ICU and then DIED....from the flu.

If anyone wants to give me a possible diagnosis, I am lacking energy, my muscles hurt.. Not bad, but more than usual.. I feel kind of "coldish", but I don't have fever or anything.. Just feel horrible.
Sounds like you're crippled with a broke dick.
Too bad your fingers aren't paralyzed.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, muddy. No, I didn't attend this year's alumni band. Most of us did it last year and decided not to participate due to the crazy antics involving the firing of Roy King.

If I get sick I'll recover. If a senior citizen gets sick they have a much higher likelihood of dying from it. So I always left the shots for them.
I don't even remember the last time anyone I know had the flu.

The whole point of the flu shot...isn't just to protect yourself but also to protect others. By the time you show actual flu symptoms and try to stay away from people...it's too late...you've already unknowingly exposed others to the flu.
You may not be in direct contact with someone vulnerable...but someone YOU unknowingly gave the flu to COULD have direct contact with someone vulnerable.
ETA: There are plenty of flu shots available....saying you are "saving the shot for others" just sounds like a cop out

Nurse, what test requires this many vials of blood?
The doctor likely ordered multiple blood tests which would need multiple vials of blood.
Certain types of blood tests can only go into certain types of vials.
