the SEALs have put so many people through in the last 5-10 years they aren't what they used to be. There are 60% or more people wearing a Trident that historically would not have made it out of BUDs - not hating just a fact.

Sort of off topic, but I was reading some story the other day about a SEAL mission and had the same thought to myself. Seems everyone and their brother is a SEAL now. It used to be a very, very select group that were complete badasses. Not so much these days. Still have the guys that would have always been in, but the overall product seems to have been watered down substantially.

Nope. People extrapolate all sorts of bullshite when you criticize (or in your case, joke) about the SEALs. You didn't even remotely say that. TBH, the guy probably said that to show that he knew a couple of SEALs.

very slightly larger number of BUDS classes with the same number of DOR as 30 years ago..... biggest difference now - is medical roll backs to where you sick called out as opposed to back to first day like olden days.

BUDS and the next 6 months are still pretty brutal to make in through.

My apologies. It's been a while since I've read the book.

Jason Cunningham was a PJ and was shot through the pelvic girdle. It's speculation, but many think he would have survived if there was a timely medevac. He lived a couple of hours after being wounded for the third time, but they wouldn't risk losing another helicopter and crew. The LZ was too hot.

If you know what is going on you absolutely can. Plus there is other video information not released that provides different data.

From what I’ve read the Pentagon couldn’t even confirm it was Chapman in the video.

Class size isn't the whole issue. It the billets (I think that is what the Navy calls them) - the number of slots open. Before the WOT and rapid expansion certain points of BUDs and Hell Week would last until the right number dropped out.

So for example, if there are two mythical classes both with 250 candidates going into B/O one in 2013 and one in 1990. The 2013 class had more slots to fill on the other end and therefore that class may have graduated 60 whereas the class of 250 candidates in B/O in 1990 may have graduated 40.0

The 20 more SEALs out of the 2013 class would not have been SEALs in 1990. That is what is happening. The number going in hasn't changes much but the number coming out has increased. BUD/s; Hell Week, etc. are in part a filtration mechanism to get the number the instructors know are needed. If more are needed more get through.

To be fair in 1990 medical roll backs went back to day one. 2013 they went back to the beginning of the phase they left. which led to larger numbers completing buds. I don't think the medical roll backs changed until mid 90s.
