I see the initial signs now. A memorial page here. Posts on someone's page right after they pass away there....Is Facebook destined to become one big online obituary?

Or will some other platform replace it before everyone on it dies?

I would guess by the 2040s/2050s, when the original college wave is in their 70s-plus, people will be dropping like flies.

You think Facebook will be around in 2050? That's a lifetime in internet/tech company time. People will likely abandon it before then or it will transform into something other than what it is today.

I agree to a point. But people get set in their ways.

Unless our grandkids pull our generation out of it, we'all be like those people we laugh at that still use AOL.

I liked MySpace in 2003-2009 better. Especially for band pages.

I see this going more the Myspace route where something better comes along and everyone makes the switch. It's already happening to an extent with Instagram.

Had a buddy who passed and I thought it was a nice place for people to share memories and stuff. I don't see anything wrong with it.

I also liked the age range on MySpace in those days. Didn't have mom and older sisters telling me to go to their MySpace page and look at the pictures they posted every single time I talked to them. Or older people I know from work getting their feelings hurt because we're not "friends" on the MySpace.

If they don't get a handle on all this fake news and political BS, users will leave and Facebook will suffer the same fate as the previously popular AOL, Yahoo, and MySpace

Nothing use to make me more upset then to have a friend who died all the sudden show up on my news feed liking a page! Piss me off.

Also I wonder how many profiles on Facebook are either fake or inactive. They always talking about how many people are on there and I'm sure their are but damn there's a lot of bs on Facebook

I'm sure AOL was at an "all time high" right before broadband was introduced.

I'm not saying it's gonna disappear overnight. But I wouldn't be surprised if we see a shift in popularity towards an alternative that may not have even launched yet.
