I see this going more the Myspace route where something better comes along and everyone makes the switch. It's already happening to an extent with Instagram.
Other things have come along. However, Facebook's team of lawyers sue the shite out of them into bankruptcy. Facebook's terms of service (which everyone signs and doesn't reads) really prevents any competitors from entering the market.

Some of the people on this board probably think jet.com is going to overtake amazon, or the bayou rant is going to overtake tiger droppings, fricking lol

I mean Google tried to take down fb with the "circles" social network and failed immensely
You hold off Google and you're here for the long haul

I'm on FB a lot less than I used to, but it's here to stay. They've been smart to partner up with other online companies so that you can sign in with your Facebook ID on a lot of sites instead of going through the registration process. That makes having a Facebook account a convenience factor, whether you use it for the social aspect or not.
And it's true that kids are using other social platforms (such as Instagram, which is part of FB). But as they move into adulthood they will probably migrate over to FB for the abovementioned convenience factor.

I also liked the age range on MySpace in those days. Didn't have mom and older sisters telling me to go to their MySpace page and look at the pictures they posted every single time I talked to them. Or older people I know from work getting their feelings hurt because we're not "friends" on the MySpace.
I liked the custom HTML, but it did suck when people had all those shiny graphics and loud stupid songs.
