There may be a more subtle point here.
If Amber had strong relationships with these people, they would come testify live for her. My friends would come for me, because they know I would do it for them.

If they could have agreed, before the trial, that they both did mountains of drugs, drank wine by the cask, stayed effed up, that nobody ever saw him lay a hand on Amber, her wounds could have been Mosquito bites, pimples, or just scratching an itch, this could have wrapped up in one day.
Johnny also did a lot for those with less than him, while Amber is an angry, malignant narcissist. I wonder if that plays to the VA jury?

so apparently all the leading/speculative questions in these depositions have been "stipulated to" (ETA: someone who knows law can explain what that phrase means) prior to trial and both sides agreed to them as is

Stipulated to means agreed to.
Each side sends the other the parts of the deposition it wants to use. This is before trial. You make any objections then. If you don’t object, it comes in. Effectively, if you don’t object, it’s “stipulated” as admissible testimony.
Continue reading if you want to go deeper in the evidence weeds.
Certain types of objections have to be made at the deposition itself, or they are gone. These are objections to form, or objections to foundation.
