Exactly what happened to my sis in Zachary. Across the street house, 3k sq feet, nice pool. At least 6 people live there and the traffic in and out is crazy.

Which neighborhood? I used to live in Zachary and bailed out a few years ago. I heard that undesirables are creeping into a couple of the higher end neighborhoods there.

Agree. Fortunate enough to have an RV to travel around for excitement when needed.

The areas of town that were nice 25 years ago are no longer the nice areas.

The "line" has moved from Greenwell Springs in the 90's to Florida Blvd in the early 2000's. That line has now moved to I-12 and may be more south than that in recent years.
I wonder what it's like to live in a place where you don't measure the passage of time by where The Line is

I see West Virginia is checking in on BR to compare. I've seen a few places over there. LOL

Keep thinking that about WV. Don’t want the secret to get out. No shower caps in our Walmart.

BR has a Republican mayor. For less than a year though, and it has been Democrat run for a long time. He's better than what we had, but I don't think he'll transform the city or anything.

I bet you walked 10 miles uphill in the snow everyday to go to school too, huh grandpa?
you miss his point, punk

He isn't saying BR was harder. He's saying it was nicer

He's not Jesus, he can't save BR. But he can slow the bleeding but like I said it won't be enough. There's too much going against BR at this point than for it. Even many middle class Black democrats hesitate to raise a family there now

To revive BR he needs to:
1) Bring back White people like Atlanta is doing
2) Increase economic development in all parts of the city, not just the higher income white parts
3) Improve EBR schools by convincing the right families to enroll their kids back in the neighborhood public schools not just the top magnet schools

Are you sure? Many I know have left or making plans to leave. I mean BR population is declining. Go check the numbers. Even many EBR public schools have hit record low numbers. The signs are there

It’s as shitty as it seemed The bad thing is there’s no where to go, areas like Central, Zachary & Denham are slowly headed in the same direction You can get away from it but eventually it’s going to catch up to you

I had hope for the mayor but everything I’ve seen with him it’s almost all events in NBR. I am a believer that in order to get young people to stay in BR which is the key to its future you need to make the good areas great and not try to make the bad areas mediocre.

There are still lots of really nice neighborhoods in BR but you need to take those areas and focus on making them more attractive to young professionals.

Drugie bums in the street are only in BR? Have you ever even been to any major city like Austin?

I'm in Atlanta right now, bout to leave for Clemson. They are like roaches, everywhere you turn, they are bumming for money to pay for their dope

Yes I have, but I only care about Baton Rouge. I can avoid all of the other cities but BR is home to my beloved Tigers.

I love visiting BR for home games and I ride in Orion. Most of my career I dreamed of retiring there to be by my friends and become a full time LSU game attendee but the last 10-15 years of visiting convinced my wife and I that would be a huge mistake. My theory is the friends living there all these years don’t realize how bad it has become because it has been a slowly getting worse for a long time.
