From what I've heard, Laplace and the rest of that godforsaken parish went to shite after Kattina. How did St. Charles and St James avoid the same fate?

The big money in St. John went after the refugees instead of the crowd that headed to North shore. They had every opportunity to improve that parish and catered to the Sec 8 crowd.

The 2016 presidential results will help tell the story

St Charles parish

63.46% Trump 32.68% Clinton

St. John

36.49% Trump 61.04% Clinton

St. James

45.15%. Trump 53.11% Clinton

Short answer, Democrats

St James is on its way, just at a slower pace.

Actually LaPlace was a nice little town in the 80’s...

And yes, Katrina destroyed it, and not in destructive storm way...

It turned down in the oil bust of the mid-late 80s. It was a pretty significant bedroom community of commuters into NOLA in the early 80s.

St Charles parish is one of the most affluent parishes in the state with a top 5 public school system.

The only thing good about living in LaPlace is that it's a glorified suburb of New Orleans being only 25-30 minutes away. Other than that it's a shithole.

What makes you thin k St James avoided the shite show? I read the St John Parish arrest report every week. If St John parish built a wall on the St John/St James line crime would literally would be cut it half.

Lol you’re confused. St Charles parish has one of the lowest crime rates and best schools in the state.
